Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

Mental health. a hidden disease

I may look normal when I put my mask on but let me tell you about my daily struggles with complex ptsd and anxiety. I wake up every morning with flashbacks and sometimes still think I’m in a dream I struggle to leave the house because I have to have a go bag at all times I can’t go to shopping centre because making a decision is hard or I buy way to many things I get triggered by sounds and sudden movements I get angry when I get interrupted mid conversation or if I’m in the middle of a task that’s just the tip of the iceberg- through in Asperger’s / ADHD whilst I’m high functioning, highly intelligent and can think quickly I have no confidence, no friends and push people away who try to help. today was a good day but I did spend to much. do you like my new basketball

Getting out of my comfort zone

I had some news which would normally trigger me into potential crisis, however I flipped the narrative and used the opportunity to walk all around Brisbane city and saw real beauty so I took the time to capture some iconic and beautiful places along the Brisbane River.
