Melbourne

About the event

Princes Park offers a gentle, aesthetic walk which is perfectly situated just north of Melbourne CBD and perfect for a day of solidarity. It plays host to one of the oldest AFL teams, Carlton Football Club. With this large stadium at its centre, Princes Park also offers up acres of open green spaces.

On the day there will be FREE yoga, meditation, fitness challenges and other wellness activities. There will also be live music, inspirational speakers and delicious food and drinks stalls.  PLUS exclusive One Foot Forward freebies!

Remember that, if you're taking part in One Foot Forward, every KM counts towards your monthly KM goal, so don’t forget to log them afterwards.

We would love families, friends and people of all ages to attend, as we come together as a community and walk for mental health.

Volunteer FAQs

What do I need to consider before volunteering?

This will be a long shift of about 4- 5 hours. You’ll need to consider your transport options before and after as well appropriate footwear and clothing.

Can I choose my role?

You will be able to select your preferred role on the volunteer form. Some roles are invariably more popular than others and your first choice may not always be possible, but we will do our very best to accommodate your first choice

How will I know if my application has been received?

On completion of your registration as a volunteer you will receive a confirmation page immediately confirming that we have received your application. We will email you shortly after welcoming you to the role and keep you updated on the lead up to the event. Please check your junk/ spam/ promotion folder if you don't recieve anything

When will I receive my shift details?

We hope to have a roster sent out within 3 weeks of the event. If however we are still recruiting this may not be possible. At the latest, you’ll know your position and shift time a week out from the event

Do I need to do any training or induction for my role?

We will hold volunteer briefings online in the week leading up to the event. Generally there will be a lunch time and after work time slot to chose from, and all our volunteers are advised of these times closer to the date. Whilst it’s not compulsory, our briefings are a great way to familiarise yourself with the venue, gain a better understanding of your role.

What should I wear on the day?

You’ll be given a high visibility vest to wear on the day, which will need to be returned post shift. Make sure you’re warm and comfortable. Please wear flat, closed toe shoes and we recommend layering up with your clothing so you can adjust with the temperature

Will I be given anything to eat or drink?

Absolutely! We recommend you have breakfast before you arrive, but all volunteers will be given free food and drink vouchers to claim from the food and drink vendors in the event village. Water and snacks will also be provided. Please let us know of any dietary requirements when you fill out your form.

Can I volunteer with a friend?

Of course. We will do out best to accommodate any requests to stand together. They’ll need to sign up via the form as well. If you’d like to be assigned a role together let us know in the comments section and we will do our very best to accommodate you.

Is there anywhere to store my things?

Less is more and we recommend you bring just the necessities. We will have limited facilities and recommend that you bring a backpack for you to store your essentials throughout your shift.

Is there a volunteer age restriction ?

Everyone is welcome. For children under 16, we ask that they are always accompanied by a supervising adult.  They just need to register as normal, and make sure that they state who they’d like to be matched with on the day at the end of the form.
