How do I sync my fitness data from my watch to the app?
How do I sync my fitness data from my watch to the app?
You can track your kilometers using the in-built fitness tracker, or connect to your Fitbit, Garmin, Map My Fitness, or Apple Watch (via Apple Health).
To do this, select your profile picture in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Then, scroll down to Activity and select Apps and Devices. Choose your app and follow the prompts to connect.
Apple Watch users:
- Make sure your watch is paired with your iPhone.
- Connect the app to Apple Health and allow permissions for Workouts and Walking + Running Distance.
- After that, head back to your profile picture in the top right-hand corner and select Health Access. Here you’ll see details of past activities that you can choose to sync over into the app.
Why isn't my smart watch syncing with the app?
Sometimes there is a delay on your device syncing with The One Foot Forward app – this delay can be between a few hours and overnight. If your activity hasn’t uploaded by the next day, please disconnect and reconnect your device to your fitness app.
You can also log your activity manually through the app by clicking the red plus sign at the bottom-middle of the app home screen and selecting 'add fitness activity' or ‘start live tracking’.
If tracking a live activity, when you’re finished, press ‘pause’ then ‘stop’. This will log your live activity. To ensure your live activity is being tracked correctly, ensure your location settings are set to 'Allow tracking'.
Why is my live activity recording a different distance to my actual distance travelled?
There are a few reasons why this may occur:
- The GPS track generally follows the shape of the road/path but with much less precision.
- If the GPS signal is lost and later re-acquired the pre- and post-signal-loss points will be connected with a straight line.
- A 'jumpy' GPS signal can cause your activity to report more distance than you actually travelled since each 'zig' and 'zag' of your GPS track has to be accounted for with a straight line connecting them.
To ensure the most accurate live tracking:
- Have a clear view to the sky. Obstructions between the phone and the sky can affect the signal.
- Ensure your device has data enabled.
- Give it time - allow time for the GPS receiver to tune into the satellites before starting an activity.
- Disable any battery saver settings including Power Saving Mode or Battery Management.
- Also ensure that the app is granted the appropriate permissions.
Alternatively, you can log your KM manually via the app or website.
I downloaded the app for last year's challenge, how do I update it?

If not, simply navigate to your app store on your device (Google Play Store for Android, App Store for iOS), search 'One Foot Forward' then tap the "Update" button to apply this year's updates and you're ready to go!
