Walk 6

I spotted some ducklings down by Olinda Creek. The parents were side-eyeing me pretty fiercely and Dad was ready to have a go! I picked up a new watch yesterday as my Garmin Forerunner FR45 (2nd one) has a broken face and the cost to fix it (again) would mean I had spent as much on that watch as a brand new current gen watch. The new one is a Garmin Instinct 3 Solar. Very nice! 👍👍 The watch also serves as motivation to keep walking... That's the cost of 11 x "3x large pizza and a garlic bread" combos from the local pizza shop on my wrist so I'd better get some use out of it!

Walk 4

Yesterday's walk allowed me to bank a few extra KMs. I'm over halfway to my goal, but only ⅓ into October. There will be a couple of days where I can't get out, so the extra KMs now will help with that.

Running?

I managed a 1 minute run, 1 minute walk, 1 minute run, at the end of my 6.3km, today. It felt nice to run a bit.

Walk 2

5km lunchtime walk. I pushed pretty hard. I'm pretty happy with the effort. I'll be sore later, though. My ribs are still really sore from sleeping on the camp bed last weekend... I need to work out how to sleep standing up, I think. I also need to remember to grab a photo while I'm out walking to add in here. And a decent naming convention for these blog posts.

Walk 1 - (yesterday)

I've needed something to motivate me and this came right when I needed the kick. I don't even know if I'm going to be physically capable of 60km for the month. Lately I've been doing 5km every other week. 5km down. My lower back is sore. My upper back is sore. My sides are sore. My legs are sore. My head is clear and bright! I'm overweight and unfit, but I'm committed...

Support Our Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.

This October, our team is taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.

We're walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support our walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.
