Today’s a tough one and reminds me what this is all about. 16 years ago I lost my mum from her mental health battle. It was also 2 yrs and 2 days ago that I lost my brother/best friend to the same fate at just 42 years old. I walked this morning as I knew that it was better to do that then stay in bed sad. It helps when the puppies are so excited to be walking.

it’s nice to be able to fit a shoe back on my foot and take a short .9km walk today to start my October challenge after having the last couple of days sprained ankle on ice.

This cause is especially close to our hearts. Our very own Emma Klingner has tragically lost both her mum and her brother to mental illness. They were only 49 and 42 when they lost their battle. Emma’s story reminds us why it’s so important to speak up, support one another, and invest in better mental health care.

This October, we’re taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide. We’re walking to raise funds for the Black Dog Institute, helping to deliver ground-breaking mental health treatment, education, and digital services to those who need them most.
