Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

10 days into the 100km one foot forward challenge: why the open road beats the gym

I’ve just hit the ten-day mark of my 100km One Foot Forward Challenge, and I’ve had a bit of a realisation. I’d originally thought about hitting the gym to use the treadmill, especially with the build-up to the Top End Wet Season making outdoor walking less appealing. But I’m pretty stoked I went with a different approach — walking around Palmerston instead. Getting out and about in the city has turned out to be way better. I get to pick my own routes, whether it’s along quiet streets, parks, or along the main roads, which makes it feel more like my own adventure. The best part? I have to battle those inner voices that tell me to give up, stop, rest for a bit, or even just jump in an Uber to get home sooner. That mental fight to keep going is where the real growth happens. In the gym, it’s would be a lot easier to let those voices win — just stop the treadmill, walk out, and call it a day. But outside? You’re more exposed to your own thoughts and the effort it takes to keep pushing forward. It’s not just about racking up kilometres — it’s about building mental toughness, discipline, and choosing to keep moving even when you’d rather stop. This challenge has shown me that sometimes, the open road is the best trainer. No walls, no machines — just you, your route, and the guts to keep taking those steps. And honestly, that’s made all the difference so far.
