Support My Walk for Mental Health Research
Did you know that 1 in 5 people experience symptoms of mental illness each year?
In fact, every day in Australia, 9 people die by suicide.
Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.
This October, I’ll be taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.
I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute, so that they can put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.
It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.
Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

Fairy Wren on the Wadandi trail
Cowie to Margs
40 kms to go! After our walk on Sunday from Cowie to Margies I only have 40 kms left to walk. It was a beautiful day for a trek on the Wadandi trail and lots of little critters came out to say hello. My Little Man did so well on his BMX until a stack halted proceedings - only 500m from the finish line. Poor little mite managed to find the only rocky patch on the trail! I was walking his bike (he was refusing to get back on it) when a friend drove past us in Margies and could see we were looking downtrodden- Helen and Freddie you were a godsend, thank you again😘.

A sunny day in Cowaramup
A sunny day in Cowaramup and I walked exactly 12 laps of Coral Vine Cross (I’m sure the neighbours think I’m quite mad!) making my total 55kms so far. The magpies were out (the feathered kind not Collingwood supporters thankfully) but not in the mood to swoop today it seems – lucky me. Friends have offered to walk with me on my 150km pledge but right now I’m finding the solitude of walking alone beneficial. I feel is it the only way I can truly reflect on the life of Novak and if tears need to come, I let them. So many families have suffered this heartache before, and like us, I’m sure the questions, the what ifs and the heartache never ends.
I implore you, if you need help reach out! If you know someone is in a dark place reach out. Don’t give up, we are here for you.

First 10kms
Today I logged my first 10kms. It was a wild and windy day in Cowaramup but the biggest challenge was completing 10kms with my Little Man Eddie in tow! A few technical difficulties logging the walk due to a few stops along the way (Candy Cow and the BMX track for Eddie) but we got there in the end. I have already reached a $1000 in fundraising from some very generous donors, so I have upped the ante and increased my goal to $5000. Sending love to my family.
