Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 people experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

In fact, every day in Australia, 8 people will die by suicide.

Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.

This October, I’ll be taking part in One Foot Forward to show people living with mental illness that they are not alone.

I'm walking to raise funds for the Black Dog Institute to support crucial mental health research and support services to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

It would mean so much to me if you'd support my walk this October.

Together, we can create a mentally healthier world, for everyone.

My Updates

Past the half way mark

A warmer morning. Chased by a dog and almost run over by an idiot on a E-scooter but still managed another 20Km

45km done

Well nice cool overcast morning and another 20km walked. Was very stiff and sore but once i got going managed to hit 20km in 6 hours and 35 minutes.
Thanks everyone for your support and words of encouragement.  60km TO GO

5 days to go

Have now done a couple of 25km days in training and with 5 days to go I think I will make it if I can get my head in the right place
Black Dog is a good name for this because it caught up with me again over the weekend. But hopefully i will be in the right place by the end of the week

walking & donations

Well have hit the 20km per day mark in training &ache all over lol.
After wanting to make $750 in donations i kicked past $3500 due to great support from family and great friends.

Thanks all and onwards and upwards

Feeling that

13 km this morning and am feeling it.
Brought new walking shoes hope they help

Even more donations

Wow I am blown away.  Wanted to raise $750 & at the moment have raised $2,333 and am now in the 10 ten fund-raisers for the challenge.
Again thanks to my friends and family. Luv yas all :)

Building the Km's

Started out with 7*5km yesterday and managed 10km today in the rain. 100 is going to be a long way lol

Well I set a target of $750 to raise and achieved that in the first day with help of a great bunch of friends have passed that target already. So onwards and upwards and see how much i can raise. Hopefully enough to hire an ambulance to drive me home at the end. Thanks again and know the money goes to a great organisation working in mental health and as always check on your family and friends.

A daily stroll is a good stroll. And that stroll can be a few meters or a marathon - it doesn’t matter but helps a sunny head.

Onya Pete. Just remember, when the going gets tough. The tough get going… and you’re one for the Tough ones. Walk on ol mate.
