Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them. 

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Short walk

Only a short 3 km walk today. Had family with me today 😁

River walk today

Had a couple of days riding to get the kilometres up due to an arthritis flare up in both ankles. Was good to be able to walk today. Stopped at Macquarie River and walked with my big shadow, Tonnka. 15 kms today.

I'm walking for ...

This is going to be a massive challenge for me with degenerative arthritis in both ankles. It was extremely hard (and painful) last year but I did it 😁 and I'm going to do it again 🧡 Why am I walking? I'm walking for the friends, family, and athletes I've Coached, that have been lost to suicide. I am walking as someone experiencing Mental Health 'challenges' to help spread awareness. I am walking to let others experiencing Mental Health 'challenges' know that they are not alone. This cause is very important to me as an advocate for Mental Health Awareness with Mental Health struggles of my own (CPTSD, Anxiety, Depression, OCD). As a 51 year old woman I have always been a suck it up and get on with it type of woman. Over the years I have learnt that bottling up experiences and not talking about emotions is a struggle within itself and creates more physical and mental trauma. This trauma affects not only you but everyone around you. Sometimes all you need is to verbalise your emotions without judgement or 'fixing'. Sometimes this is simply by sitting with someone in silence. .... I try to be that person because that's the person I need 💚
