World Suicide Prevention Day is a reminder that behind every smile, every role, and every person, there may be silent struggles we don’t see. To anyone feeling the weight of those struggles: you are valued, you are loved, and your story is important. I walk in solidarity with all those impacted by suicide and mental health challenges. Please know you don’t have to go through it alone—I am here, and there is always support around you.

Support my walk for mental health research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year? Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.  This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide. I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most. It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk. Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Talking about it matters

One of the hardest parts of mental health is that so much of it happens in silence. People often feel they can’t speak up because of stigma, fear, or the belief that they have to face it alone. I feel it every day in a very large corporate environment. That silence can be heavy. It can stop someone from reaching out for help, or from even admitting to themselves that they’re struggling. That’s why this challenge is more than just 100km on the road — it’s about starting conversations. Every time we talk about mental health openly, we chip away at the stigma. We make it easier for someone else to say, “I’m not okay,” and to know that’s not weakness — it’s courage. So as I run, I’m carrying more than kilometres. I’m carrying the message that talking about mental health matters. Because when we talk, we create space for support, understanding, and hope.

100km sounds big — but that’s the point

100km is a long way. I know there will be mornings when I don’t feel like putting my shoes on. There will be runs where my legs ache, my feet hurt (which is how it is right now leading up to this), my energy dips, and I wonder why I signed up for this in the first place. But that’s exactly the point. For so many people living with mental health challenges, every single day can feel like a marathon — heavy, exhausting, and sometimes impossible to get through. My 100km is just a small reflection of that struggle. It’s a reminder to myself, and hopefully to others, that perseverance matters, and that support makes the hard days a little easier. This challenge isn’t about the distance alone — it’s about what each step represents: awareness, compassion, and hope.

Why i’m putting one foot forward

Yesterday I shared that I’ll be running 100km this October for the One Foot Forward challenge. Today, I want to share a little more about why. Mental health is not something that sits at the edges of our lives — it’s woven into everything we do. When it’s strong, it allows us to thrive, connect, and take on challenges. When it’s not, even the simplest things can feel impossible. I’ve seen how it can affect people close to me, and I know many of us carry stories like that. Running 100km is a way for me to show that every step counts — not just on the track, but in the way we support one another. The conversations we start, the kindness we show, and the research we back all add up to real change. So this October, every kilometre I run is a reminder: no one has to face their struggles alone.

Personal challenge!

This October, I’ll be taking part in the One Foot Forward challenge – running 100km to raise awareness and support for mental health research. Why? Because mental health touches all of us. Whether it’s a family member, a friend, a colleague, or even ourselves, many people carry struggles that aren’t always visible. By supporting research and initiatives that improve mental health and wellbeing, we can help build a future where it’s easier to access support and where stigma no longer holds people back from seeking help. Running 100km is a personal challenge, but it’s also a reminder that small steps add up. Every kilometre is dedicated to creating better wellness for those around us, and to starting conversations that matter.
