A tribute for All the souls passed

I am so grateful to the Black Dog & One Foot Forward community for saving my own life on several occasions. They did this through education when I was first diagnosed, giving me something to be passionate about when I became incapacitated to work, helping me build real online friendships in some of my darkest days and for so much more... im grateful. Mental Health survivors have statistically shorter lives. This tribute is for anyone who didn't make it to their natural end. If they could listen id say: I don't think you're selfish. I don't blame you. I don't hate you. I was almost you. I understand you. But I don't want to be you. Let's get walking and try to raise our own lifespans with our steps. Lets make it to our natural ends, whenever they may be :)

Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

2:20am thoughts

Tonight im up late. My brain is over active from some hurtful comments thrown my way earlier in the evening. Im part of an online streaming community and part of that is dealing with trolls, most of the time I can brush it off but tonight their words were stuck on repeat in an anxiety spiral. Fight or flight over some internet words. Gotta love that old amygdala! I was doom scrolling when I came across the email from One Foot Forward, inviting me to raise money for their organisation: The Black Dog Institute. A sense of pride washed over me and all of a sudden I didn't care any more if some people from across the screen think im cool or not. Their words quietened and my anxiety brain kicked into excited mode. I am a mental health survivor. I call myself that because I was induced into a coma for 3 days to save my life after an intentional overdose back in July 2020. October 2020, One Foot Forward was launched and im so proud to be a founding member. This is one of the T-Shirts I earned since then. I earnt it through walking, raising awareness but mostly... KINDNESS. So suck on that trolls.
