I’m walking in solidarity this October for Australians affected by mental illness and suicide. One small act of kindness makes all the difference. We all deserve support, especially when we are struggling.

My Updates

Another 4km hit

Today was relatively uneventful. nice to have days like that though. absolutely pouring with rain which made my walk this evening a little more of a hassle. But I got an opening this evening. Can't believe I only have a week left.

2km. home stretch

Its the home stretch today guys 👣 I can't believe October is wrapping up soon. I just want to take a moment to say that I appreciate each and every one of you. what we have raised so far is nothing short of incredible. It's all going to a really wonderful place and it means so much to have the support. money isn't something we can all spare so I appreciate even just getting those messages in the morning telling me to keep going. Today is doubled donations which is amazing because we've hit $500+!!! like what? that's so much more then I ever thought I'd get to. yes I was ambitious and set my goal to $1,000 but I always aim higher and hope for the best regardless. So genuinely thanks everyone. (Also I forgot to take a pic on my walk so please enjoy this koala from my walk yesterday) stay safe and well everyone 🧡🐺

A picture of something i haven't noticed before

I guess technically this doesn't count as I have seen kangaroos many a time. But I never realised there was such a sanctuary so nearby. Coombabah Lakelands is excellent to explore. Watch out for the drop bears though 🐨

6.5km jotted

Today was such a busy day. I forgot to bring walking shoes but I needed to get those km's in so walked barefoot for 6km. What a beautiful walk it was at Coombabah Lakelands though. Been awhile since I've seen so many kangaroos. definitely recommend

🧡my reason why🧡

Today's post is about sharing my reason why. Why I am doing this. why I feel so strongly about mental health. Why it matters. For me, mental health has been an uphill battle from as early as I can remember. I have always felt self aware. Like I became conscious too early in life. Dr Alok Kanojia often talks about the duality of self awareness and the level of mental illness that can be weaponised against you. The more you know about mental illness, the harder it can be to fight. I think there is something to be said about how the more we feel, the more we can suffer. The price we pay for mental fortitude. I have wanted to end my life many times. I have felt the sting of depression deeply. There are few things to describe the loneliness it creates. Even when someone tells you how not alone you are, those words are just noise. You find any reason to hold yourself back. To not reach out. To not listen to anything but that negative self talk. But that's not what you should take away here. You can have a million and one reasons to feel unworthy of life. You can feel like giving in any day now, but it takes just one act of kindness. One simple, almost negligible, moment of connection and earnest generosity to turn things around. That's all I needed to survive 100% of my worst days. Black dog institute offers so much research and support for exactly that reason. 🧡Be the reason someone gets through one more day🧡 its truly that simple, at least for me. Walking and getting funding for mental health services are like a two for one deal for me. One five minute walk can be all I need to shake off an otherwise impossibly negative day. So once again, 🧡Be the reason someone gets through one more day🧡 I appreciate you all, thank you for being here

Water dragons

Always so charming seeing wildlife when you are out and about. With all the rain lately everything is looking very green and lush

The morning kms

Long walk around the burbs this morning. so muggy

Only a short walk so far

I missed out on my walk yesterday. Absolutely knackered in this Qld humidity at the moment. But I'm going to make it up this evening. 2.8km so far. Will aim for another 5km. Please don't stop cheering me on, this has been hard work to stay motivated on top of everything else but I'm determined to see it to the end for the sake of all those needing support in mental health. Share my posts, You all are amazing

4km done

I did the math, I need to average about 3.5km a day to hit my goal by the end of the month. with today clocked it's getting closer and closer. I can't believe what a whirlwind this month has been so far. I'm so grateful for all the support. I know a lot of us are in the financial straits but all the donations mean a great deal for everyone who needs mental health support. Every dollar adds up. so yeah, really humid but peaceful walk this evening. now a shower and some dinner and straight to bed 💤

A sunrise 🌅

Today was take a photo of a sunrise/sunset. I get up about 4:30am on weekdays, so naturally I see a lot of sunrises. More often then not while I'm driving my partner down to work. that's when I snapped this lil pic from my phone holder. I'll never not enjoy getting a lovely glimpse of the day ahead. Hope you all are doing well.

Even if i don't get a designated walk, every bit of effort counts

Ooft. that's the theme of today. Just completely exhausted, overwhelmed, scatter brained and generally stilted. had a long day and by the end realised I hadn't had my designated walk. This is why wearing Fitbit watches are so handy. Even when I'm not specifically recording, I can see all my health data throughout the day. So I'm counting that towards my goal of 100km. I hope you all reading this had a more positive day. Even when life feels stifling you are a whole valid being and deserve to feel seen, heard and cared for. Tomorrow I'll give it another go 💪 Thanks again for all the support

A photo of something that makes me warm and fuzzy

A cat in a box. I'm a simple person

Back on the grind

Big thanks to the Diva Michelle for getting me out to yoga and a walk this morning. Having friends help motivate you makes such a difference when you fall off. I've had the last few days off and felt so unmotivated with how slow things have been. But I really appreciate all the new donations, y'all are amazing and it makes a big difference. 6.3km clocked today. everything is going towards something

A picture of an animal

Easy. I take a pic of khan every day 🐈‍⬛ the most photogenic gentleman you ever did see. On a real note though, I've been struggling the last few days. I want to clock up more km but I feel so stagnant. Not getting a lot of traction on my donations lately, not that that's all the matters. But it's just hard to believe I'm getting anywhere. I'm doing my best. in a few I'm going to go to the beach and shake it off. Please keep spreading the word, it means everything

A photo of something that starts with my initial

🍎Apple for Anna🍎 today my legs were so exhausted. I decided to give myself a break. I'm doing good, should hit my km goal in no time, however I still need help raising funds, so please, if you can, it means heaps to donate 💪💕

Another 3km clocked

don't stop cheering for me now. Please keep the motivation coming. I'm finally getting into the swing of things

My walking essentials

today's challenge, post about your walking essentials. I'm pretty minimalist when it comes to going out. I tend to lose things if there's too much. So far my essentials have been; keys, water bottle, headphones. maybe a protein bar. listening to two hot takes at the moment, I love Morgan's voice. sometimes if I'm particularly inquisitive, some Dr K (healthy gamer GG)

Every km counts

Exhausted today but still wanted to clock something. Every effort counts

Something orange to represent off

Today I had to find something orange to represent one foot forward. I saw a variety of things, but in the end, what's more orange than an orange ? 🧡🍊

9km clocked 👣💪

Thanks to the lovely beautiful Michelle for keeping me company today. life is so much better with friends 🫶

Sometimes it's hard to get a grip

Sometimes it's hard to find the energy. I'm someone who's always felt a sense of burn out by the end of the week. I always felt inadequate because how does everyone find the motivation to go to work, go to gym, make dinner, do the house work and take care of their health and hygiene all at the same time ?? well the truth is no body has it 100% and that's okay. there's more going on then what we see and hear superficially. We all go through seasons of getting it together and slowing down. Regardless every bit of effort you put towards yourself and your wellbeing is good enough. so today, although I didn't get what I wanted done, I still got up and did my walk, and that's okay. I'm okay. Keep going

🖤 support my walk, 100km for black dog institute 🖤

Hello all :) This October, I’m challenging myself to walk 100km throughout the month to raise funds for Black Dog Institute. Mental health affects so many of us. In Australia, approximately 1 in 5 people experience mental health challenges, yet most still don’t receive the support they need. Black Dog Institute is a wonderful nationwide resource dedicated to mental health research, education, prevention and support. Having access to organisations like this is so important, but they can only continue their work with the support of you, the community. 84 cents of every dollar donated to Black Dog Institute goes towards research, professional costs, and the implementation of programs and services. This cause is particularly meaningful to me as I’ve experienced my own deep struggles with mental health, and Black Dog Institute has made a big difference in my life. I know firsthand how important it can be to have somewhere to turn when it gets tough. So, if you’re able to contribute, anything you can spare, it would mean a lot and will help me reach my 100km goal while supporting an organisation doing important work. Thank you so much for your support, whether you donate, share my fundraiser, or simply cheer me on as I clock up the kilometres. 🖤 No one should face mental health struggles alone. 🫶
