Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

As most people who know me will know, exercise is definitely not my thing 😂 but supporting mental health absolutely is.

So this October, I’m stepping very far outside my comfort zone and walking 40km in One Foot Forward to raise money for the Black Dog Institute.

Mental illness touches so many people, in so many different ways.

Around 7 Australian men die by suicide every day, and more than three-quarters of all people who die by suicide in Australia are men.

Women can experience postnatal depression and anxiety at a time when everyone expects them to be at their happiest.

Children and teenagers are struggling with anxiety, depression, bullying and pressures that previous generations never had to navigate in quite the same way.

And then there are the people we work with, live with, love and see every day who may be struggling silently and we would never know.

Mental health doesn’t discriminate. It can affect our husbands, wives, partners, children, parents, friends and colleagues.

That’s why I’ve decided that if walking 40km (and probably complaining about it the entire way 😂) can help raise awareness and funds for better mental health treatment, research, education and support, then it’s absolutely worth doing.

My goal is to raise funds for the Black Dog Institute through One Foot Forward.
