Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Community challenge: water

Today's community challenge is to take a photo of water on your walk. Well! How blessed am I to live where I live 😁 The Indian Ocean and Chapman River right on my doorstep. And some fun ones too 😘 like... water fountains, drinks in a fridge, water in the tap, dog bowls and water bottle refill points. 👟6.3km

Round the houses

Afternoon walk around the houses in Sunset Beach. New OFF hat on 😁 👟5km

One foot forward pack arrived!

Got my special pack in the mail today 😍 Hat, keyring and bag... bonus for fundraising. Thank you everyone who has contributed. 🙏

Thursday community challenge: show us your stats

Not doing as well on the walking but better than I hoped for fundraising. Been harder than I expected this year but I am not giving up 😊 The real point for me was to raise awareness and speak more openly about my own mental health journey with others... And that's what I am doing ❤️

Wednesday community challenge: something in your favourite colour

I was MIA yesterday 😅 so here's my favourite thing in my favourite colour today... My Life Recovery Bible 😁 Life changing and completely irreplaceable to me ❤️ I had a severe mental breakdown in January 2026 and this book was a huge part of my mental health being restored. One of my favourite verses: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind" Romans 12:2 😊😊❤️

30 days to resilient

🧡What do I do on my walks... Apart from walk?👣 I meditate 😊 🧡I use the Pause App by John Eldridge. Currently I am in the 30 days to resilient program. 🧡Here's a snippet of what to expect: Join us on this 30-day experience to follow Jesus' path of supernatural resilience. Together we can recover our joy, strengthen our hearts, and thrive through the challenges of modern-day life. 🧡In the program, each day has two 8- to 10-minute sessions, designed for the morning and the evening. Each session is part soul care, part reflection, and part contemplative prayer. 🧡Today I listened to this meditation: 🧡Emotional Resilience Learn the skill of grieving our griefs by allowing the sadness to come forth and expressing it through lament. *Grieving Our Griefs *Redeeming Our Losses 🧡Here's the link if this meditation resonates with you: https://pauseapp.com 👟4.7km

70km completed!

Windy walk this morning 🌬️🍃🍃 Bush fire in Strathalbyn...caught just in time by Bush fire brigade and under containment. Thankful for the quick response, many houses saved. Life on life's terms... I walk on. 👟3.6 km 70km of 200 completed 🙌

I'm over halfway to my fundraising goal!

A donation from Cards with a Mission took me to $525, over half way to $1000 now! Thank you Jason McLean for your purchase of Christmas cards. 20% of the sale has been donated today to make a difference for Mental Health research 🙏

Every step and every dollar counts

Very excited to have received 2 donations today... only $30 to go to hit the half way mark to my goal of $1000 😍 And another stroll around Edenlife village. 👟1.5km

This is the eden life

A lovely stroll around the grounds on my day of rest looking at the beautiful gardens. Visiting family for birthday celebrations. 👟2km

Road trip beauty walks

Off down south for a quick visit to family. Some beautiful wildflowers out. Managed to still get 3.5km for the day. Pretty happy with that! 😁

Walking to the indian ocean

Afternoon walk around the boundary of beautiful Sunset Beach and pausing on the edge of the Indian Ocean. The light was magical, dancing across the surface of the water. The sheoaks sighing in the gentle breeze. Seagulls whirling around overhead. Moments like these give me great joy. Another 4 odd kms to add to the tally.

Seal rocks

Accompanying me on my walk to seal rocks today was my husband Wade 😁 Blessed with a seal on the rocks sunbathing, a cool pic for today's community challenge of take a pic of an animal. Short walk but every km counts 👟2km

50km walked in 8 days

Even with physical challenges the last couple of days, I have walked every day and now a quarter of my goal is accomplished! This is how I do it... one step at a time, one day at a time and remembering that I am not alone.

I don't have to meet every goal i set.

Some days are harder than others. Managing complex chronic health illnesses can be a full time job and not every day is sunshine and roses. Today was one of those days. Making a short walk from home to the River was a big effort. Chronic pain from sciatica can make just walking a big achievement. Grateful for the bench at the estuary to watch the evening activities at the busy 'dogs and families' time of the day. It's okay to not be achieving every goal set. It's okay to be human. 👟3.2km

Barefoot on the beach at dusk

Winding down after a busy day with a stroll along the beach. Shoes off, toes dug deep into the sand... breathe in... breathe out. Feel the coldness soothe the skin after a warm day . Freedom from the constraints of footwear. Watching the birds plunge into the waves after a tasty bite for dinner. Breathe in... breathe out. The sun dips below the horizon as another day ends. Thankful for the breath in my lungs, the wind in my hair, the salt on my skin. The 4km logged , a blessing in many ways. These are some of the things that give me good health. Footprints in the sand... is there one set... or two?? ❤️

Something beginning with... b!

First walk of the day looking for things that begin with the letter B, my first name initial... community challenge for today. Found plenty! Blue sky, bike path, bricks, bush, blue car, boat, bin, bench, blue blooms, bloody flies(I'm counting it!😁), buses, bark, blue feet, bike repair station, big blue bins, Bosley St sign, bougainvillea, bird, bamboo, and of course... beach! 👟5.2km ⏱️1hr 14min

Get a wiggle on!

Brisk afternoon walk along the wiggle path to smash out my biggest days kms so far... 11.8km! 👣😁🙌 That 200km goal is getting chipped away pretty good 😊

Windy city

An extra walk at lunchtime along the beach... windsurfing paradise today. Random fun fact: did you know that Geraldton is the windiest city in Australia and the 3rd windiest city in the world? Peak season October through March for all the wind reliant water sports. Another 4km towards my goal 🧡

Big lap catch-up

Having a rest day on Sunday adds another 7.5km to the rest of the week to attain my 200km goal. 👣👣😅 3 walks planned for today 🤟 This one was around the Sunset Beach parks, wiggle path and Chapman River walk. Chapman River is still recovering from the big fire we had last year... good to see regrowth on some of the large trees ❤️ Almost 6km in just over an hour 👣🤟😁

Community challenge: walking essentials

Can't get by without these! plus water and my phone 😁🤟

Selfie sunday

This is me walking... Into my church 😁 Sunday is my day of rest. No kms to log but keeping physically and spiritually healthy also keeps me mentally healthy too 🙏 A day to pray, praise and then proceed with the new week tomorrow ❤️ #onefootforward #communitychallenge #selfiesunday

Chapman river estuary walk

Afternoon walk to my favourite place in Sunset Beach... The Chapman River Estuary 😊 🧡Making 8.5km for the day and 22.8km in total for the first 3 days. Only 176.2km to go 😅 🧡Fundraising total so far: $264 of $1000 goal.

Orange day

Saturday morning laps of the Geraldton foreshore. What can I say? Geraldton really likes orange! 😁🧡 So many orange things, like this cool crabby mural 🦀 Clocked up another 5+km and some donations coming in from some lovely ladies I met. Going all out this year... $1000 goal 🧡🧡🧡

World smile day

Belonging to my community keeps me mentally well and gives me opportunities to uplift others. A walk through the centre of town during our peak tourist season Gave me lots of opportunities for random acts of kindness. Whether a smile, a wave, a hello, a random chat or giving someone directions; there's always time to be kind. And.. I clocked up another 4km towards my goal 😁👣👣

No place like this place

Second walk for the first day 😊 Sunset Beach has many great walking circuits... like along the beach to the Chapman River Estuary. As the sign says... there's no place like this place 😁👣👣

Sunrise at sunset beach

Sunrise at Sunset Beach 😁🌞👣 First walk of the day through the dunes and around the boundary of beautiful Sunset Beach in Geraldton WA. Mornings are a great time to get a meditation in on headphones and connect with God for a good start to the day. Inner peace that sustains. My favourite is the Pause App from Wild at Heart by John Eldridge. ❤️🙏
