Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Sorry incomplete

Hey all as today is the last day I think I should do a blog and apologise for not reaching my target of 100kms. I came very close and done a phenomenal job and effort to get to my target. Unfortunately I pulled up vey sore this morning after doing 12.1 km yesterday afternoon after a 12 hr day behind the wheel and a massive 78hrs of work and driving including a breakdown to start the week. So I was not able to get out for a walk during my week like I had hoped. Throughout the month I did a mammoth 88kms throughout the month of October which most of my walking had to be done either on a Friday afternoon or Saturday unless on the treadmill due to inclement weather conditions. Ian very proud of my achievements and progress. For someone whom earlier in the year had a health issue that I thought was going to be the end of my career, my physical wellbeing and my financial sercurity not just myself but family. I will continue to walk from now on at least one 10-15km walk throughout the week to keep my health improving. To everyone whom attempted a goal and either achieved just did not reach their goals, you gave it your best I hope and hope to see you again for another crack at it next year so please let’s keep putting one foot forward today, tomorrow and in the future for some you know or yourselves. Congratulations to all whom reached both fundraising and activities targets and let’s make everyone one count.

Another 10.5 kms on the treadmill

Hey all I know it a bit long between posts but I’m still put one foot forward, it just takes me a week to get back into it as I spend 5-6 days driving interstate, I run the highway between greater Melbourne and surrounding suburbs greater Adelaide and hills district and Mount Gambier, Limestone Coast and Coorong/Coonawarra regions of South-East South Australia. Sonthis week has been a bit of a late start as I got home had a few things to do and try spend sometime with the family and then today a quick day trip back into Western Melbourne suburbs to attend a 70th of my wife’s late mothers best friend. But once I got back and done some more errands I got on the treadmill whilst watching both DWCS (Dana White’s Contender Series) and replay of Bathurst top 10 shootout, I pushed on to get another at least 6.5 kms in and I pushed on to get a total of 10.5 kms. I am now somewhat spent till tomorrow so I may or may not get some more kms in tomorrow if I get time before I have to pack and head back off for another week. Too all of you out there I am putting one foot forward not just for myself and all who have to struggle to make it through a dark period or had those thoughts of maybe I would be better off leaving this world. THIS IS FOR YOU YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH YOU MEAN TO EVERYONE AROUND YOU. KEEP GOING THERE IS LIGHT AND HELP AROUND YOU Much love to my fellow men woman and children, YOU’VE GOT THIS

Treadmill today

Hey all fellow walkers and fundraisers, woke up today feeling good but no real motivation to go for a walk, first up make a smoothie then get ready to go food shopping, still no real motivation get done shopping it’s windy and starts to rain so get home and get changed to get motivated (still none) but I’m changed still raining so on the treadmill I go hoping to get at least 5kms in, hearing aids in tunes on LET’S GO, 90 mins in 9.5 kms and like YEAH I DONE IT . so happy I pushed myself to just do it, let’s see what tomorrow morning brings weather wise hoping to get out on the fresh air and get another walk under my belt

Every cent or dollar helps

I thought I would do this challenge as I not only know someone who has been through the ringer and come out the other end, but I also am not just a survivor of suicide but also suffer from mental illness and some of my family have also been down the same road and are still here, so please just reach out someone will either be the ear, shoulder to lean on or be the one who will give time and give the help and guidance your or someone else might need.
