Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

My story💗

In October, I’ll be taking part in a walk for mental health. This is something that means a lot to me because mental health has been a part of my story from a young age. Growing up, I struggled with my mental health and there were times when life felt overwhelming. As I got older, those struggles continued and there were periods where I felt like I had lost myself. I went through changes in my life, had to step away from things that were becoming too much for me and eventually found myself starting again and trying to figure out who I was. There was a time where I stopped looking after myself the way I should have. I struggled with eating, sleeping and finding the motivation to do everyday things. I knew I wasn’t feeling like myself but I didn’t always know how to explain what I was going through. There was a time when I was offered medication to help with my mental health but I chose not to take it. I wanted to try and fight my battles on my own and I was able to get through those battles without taking medication. It wasn’t always easy, but I found ways to keep going and work through what I was facing. The support and help I received slowly helped me find myself again. I started to understand that I didn’t have to face everything alone and that asking for help was okay. Hearing the words that I had been diagnosed with mental health conditions broke me. At the time it was difficult to understand and accept, and I never imagined that those words would become such a big part of my journey. But over time, I’ve learnt that a diagnosis doesn’t define who I am. It’s simply a part of my story and I’m still here, still fighting and still finding my way forward. This walk is more than just a walk for me. It represents my journey, the things I’ve overcome and the person I’m continuing to become. I’m walking for myself but also for anyone who has ever felt alone in their own battle. If my story can remind even one person that it’s okay to speak up, ask for help and take things one day at a time, then sharing it is worth it. You don’t have to fight alone. 💗
