Day 16

Challange: Take a photo of anything water......because I don't already 🤣...it is my favourite. Just a short walk today after work. Tried to get all fancy with my water photos today. A friend on standby incase I fell in while trying to get a good photo 😆. I certainly didnt feel like doing the walk but we did it anyway.

Day 15

Challange: Half way stats day. Today is Hubby's Birthday so no walking for him after work, plus still a little tender ankle and littlest kiddo had an appointment. I did another 6km after dropping the not so little kid at school. Then some coffee, roll and donuts taken out to the Birthday boy.

Day 14

Challange: Take a photo of something that makes you warm and fuzzy. I walked from home out to hubby's work, only 6km but along my favourite view. I walked out to then go for a walk with him after work. He decided he'd roll his ankle instead.

Day 13

Rest day. No walking.

Day 12

Today's challange was to find something heart shaped No luck on finding anything heart shaped but did my morning walk next to the beach which made my heart happy. Just a little one today, the shins are feeling it from my big one the other day. Bring on my massage 💆‍♀️

Day 11

Challenge was to take a photo of a sunrise or sunset Well, I had to venture back to work so I was either working or sleeping through the sunrise and sunset. Did manage a decent walk today mid evening.

Day 10

Challange: Tell your why.... I don't think I've ever really expressed why I participate in this campaign each year. With the tattoo challenge I gave some reasons however there are so many more. Growing up was never easy, divorced parents and all that comes with that plus extra. I was surrounded by people who loved me, protected me and did everything in their power to make my childhood as very best they could. But despite all of that something in me still felt broken and at times resulted in me self harming in my later teen years. Thankfully because of the support and love that I did and still have that's as far as that went. So I do this for me. I also had a brief friendship that was very impactful on me at the time however unfortunately, he lost the battle to the black dog. So I do this for him. I do this for the most amazing, beautiful and strong willed women who has not only survived her black dog but now fights each and everyday to keep it at bay and I am so proud of this women. I do this for my youngest who has ASD, who has trouble navigating the non neurodivergent expections of this world, and teaching him it's okay to just be him. I do this for all people being bullied, because unfortunately as much as we like to think that bullying ends in school it continues on into adulthood and some of us are faced with it in our work place. Kids and adults at times cant escape it, it's not just left at school or work it creeps into social media, onto our phones, into our homes, our safe space. So I do this for all those kids and adults dealing with bullying behaviours. Because it always feels like the bullies are the ones that "win" and don't lose anything when they are spoken against. I am with you, and I walk for you you are not alone.

Day 9

Day 9: Challenge today was to take a photo of an animal while out walking. So I took a mixture of living/statue/painted animals. I wasn't sure what I'd find or if I'd find any with the wind that was about today. At least the wind made one way of my walk super quick. Tomorrow is meant to be worse so watch this space to see if I make it outside. Tomorrow, Friday the 10th from 8am Black Dog is doubling donations made 🥳 so if you haven't donated and are able your efforts will be doubled tomorrow. You legends have already helped us meet our team goal which I'm so thankful for. But please keep em coming and please sharing our cause.

Dday 8

Day 8: Wheelie Bin Wednesday. Another overcast and rainy day so was a mixture of indoor/outdoor walking.

Day 7

Post a pic of a bridge with a sneaky random show us your tattoo challange in the mix. So day 7, typical Tassie overcast cool and then wet. So short walk and found an overpass and a board walk I'm renaming them to bridges 😁. Of course I added in the tattoo challange. As some of you know I've been working on my sleeve for over 2 years now. I wanted one for a long time but could never get the right feeling when I looked at pictures. Anyway, I also had a little going on back then change in job, whilst difficult at the time I'm very thankful now. I was treated poorly by some co-workers, crying and mentally struggling before and after shifts (I'm a Capricorn, we generally dont show we have that many emotions). I was also struggling with a family personal relationship and making the difficult choice to end that for everyones mental health, which in itself was again difficult. But for my family I had to choose me. So my sleeve has been a reminder that I am stronger than I think, that I can over come the storms and of course some wise words I'll keep near and dear to my heart thanks to Granny. This is two of many reasons I take part in the one foot forward challenge each year.

Day 6

Challenge for the day was part 1 of 2. Find a rock to paint a motivation rock. I didnt take a photo of my rock but Hubby who started his walk today found me a nice one. I've added a photo of his first steps today since he's my rock.

Day 5

Challange today was selfie Sunday. Went earlier to pick up the middle kid today from work and walked along the beach front further up. The beach is a pattern but honestly who wouldnt want to eye ball that kinda coast line even with the gloomy dark skies and threat of rain. I did manage to make it back just before the rain started.

Day 4

The challange was to share your drink bottle amd hydration tips. I only did a little walk but had an awesome day hanging with the biggest child. I don't really have any hydration tips, some days I'm good and stay on track others not so much. But I'll add my favourite bottles anyway.

Day 3

Day 3 Challenge was to take a photo of a random act of kindness for world smile day.. I didnt take a photo of my random act of kindness but I donated to someone to kick of their fundraising efforts. It was a breezy walk this morning, but lovely when the wind stopped and was just the sunshine.

Day 2

Day 2 Challenge: Take three photographs of objects whose names start with the first letter of one's name. Prue began her day with a 5km walk, starting at the Port and proceeding along the waterfront. The sun shone brightly, indicating a beautiful day ahead (it is not). As Prue strolled, she was startled by a large Purple octopus, but upon noticing its smiling face, she continued her walk. Whilst gazing at the beachside, she observed penguin footprints in the sand and was surprised to see a penguin nestled in its hut. This unexpected encounter filled her heart with joy, motivating her to continue her walk and raise awareness for mental health.

Day 1

Challange for the day: Take a photo of your first steps for the campaign. Was a lovely overcast morning with a few sprinkles along the way. Beautiful walk with one of my favourite humans and a lovely run in with a kiwi Aunt visiting at the moment (I slept in so we didnt walk together).

Support our walk for mental health research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year? Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.  This October, our team is taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide. We're walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most. It would mean so much to me if you donated to support our walk. Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.
