Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

For my baby sister

Charlotte, a quiet, well mannered girly girl from Kingaroy. From birth Charlotte was always a little different, her laugh was always brighter and her smile makes your day better, she loves to dance, spend time with friends and make you laugh by doing silly dance moves in the kitchen.Charlotte is My baby sister and despite her happy demeanour that she carries with her daily, she also carries a heavy heart and mind. Charlotte was diagnosed with ADD and severe anxiety early this year and her journey since then has not been easy. After being given medication to ease the symptoms of her diagnosis’s, she began to have sudden seizures. One of the scariest moments of my life was seeing her in that hospital bed with so much unknown as to why this was happening. After being air lifted to Brisbane children’s  hospital no true answers were clear, “no underlying causes” was constantly repeated along with “it can’t be her medication” the seizures were then renamed to “fits” and these fits continued for weeks to follow, after discontinuing her medication the fits stopped… a new medication was given to Charlotte to treat her anxiety more than her ADD and everything looked great! She was given the all clear to dance and go to school and her condition was named “fnd” or “fss” which stands for “functional neurological disorder”  this unfortunately was a misdiagnosis. Two weeks after being on the new medication the fits started again, without hesitation this time the medication was discontinued immediately and she has been “seizure” or “fit” free ever since, Charlotte now has to try and manage with her conditions without medication. Although that is a heavy weight to carry, she will never carry that alone, her support system reaches further than she could possibly imagine. As long as I live she will never walk alone, and that’s is why I decided to join this fundraiser, to show my baby sister that she is loved, supported and will always have her friends and family to carry the weight along with her.
