Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

I’ve set myself a new target, and this one carries a bit more weight than just chasing a personal best. Over the coming weeks, I’m lacing up to log 300 km on foot to raise $1,001 for the Black Dog Institute. Mental ill-health isn't an abstract issue—it touches nearly half of us at some stage in our lives. Suicide remains a leading cause of death for Australians aged 15–44, but it doesn't have to stay that way. The Black Dog Institute does critical work translating scientific research into real-world suicide prevention programs, digital self-help tools, and community support where it's needed most. Logging 300 km is going to take a lot of early mornings and steady discipline, but every single kilometer has a purpose behind it. If you’re in a position to throw a few dollars toward the goal, it directly funds life-saving research and resources. Running for you

Nothing breaks my heart more than the thought of someone ending their life. That dark place needs some light. I am running to raise money for all the people who experience mental illness and for the memory of all those who tapped out early. I truly hope I can make a difference with my little pledge.
