A tribute for My Dad

I’m walking in solidarity this October for Australians affected by mental illness and suicide. You are not alone. My Dad suffered all his life with Mental Illness and suicide attempts. No he didn’t help himself but being a male I feel there is a lot of stigma around asking for help. He was a very very unwell Man and I wish he didn’t have to go through what he did. Unfortunately due to a massive heart attack from alcoholism he is no longer with us. I’m doing this for him and to help everyone from all walks of life that there is hope! You are not alone and asking for help doesn’t mean you are weak! You are strong.

Support my walk for mental health research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year? This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide. I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most. It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk. Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

Today’s adventure

Today I decided it would be good to head out alone for my walk. I was feeling emotional and thought a good walk with good music would help. knocked out 7.7kms in one go!!!

Back to my goal

After a busy week and being unwell I finally got out and completed a 4km walk. I spent the time talking with my eldest daughter who came along with me tonight. I feel like I have accomplished something today even if it was my walk :) we even had a swing and play on the playground!

First day of one foot forward

I have been quite sick this week and i am still unwell. I still got myself ready and took a small walk towards my goal of 40kms for Mental Health. I’m proud of myself today even for the smallest achievement for today.
