Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Day 15

Today I successfully did a full skate with no falls…. very successful practice!

Day 13: trying something new

Today I tested out an early birthday gift…… some rollerblades! I’m not great, but I made it through some cardio with no major accidents. let’s hope I catch on to this hobby quickly!

Day 11: belair national park

Day 11 was an early morning at Belair National Park to beat the heat. I saw a cute koala and some baby kangaroos in mum’s pouch.

Day 4&5: Casual Walks

The last couple days, my walks have been mundane. The reality of being consistent, is that not every day is exciting….. and that’s okay. I’m grateful for my ability to walk, observe, and enjoy the small changes each day has to offer.

Morialta

Day 3: morialta

Early morning at Morialta…. Started at 6am so I could walk watching the sunrise….but the clouds and mist were too thick to see it. The views were beautiful anyways. I made 25k steps and earned a free Yo-chi post hike. Very successful day!

Day 2: connecting with others

Today was a short walk, but I managed to connect with the local cat! very successful outing. 10/10

Day 1: the art of noticing

As a counsellor, we often provide strategies to clients to help them be mindful. Today I put a simple, yet effective, one to the test. The Art of Noticing So, what did I notice? I noticed the rain drizzling down and splatting on the pavement. Little puddles were forming and the droplets turned into ripples that trickled into small streams alongside the road. There were Snails, worms, baby and mama bush hens, and ducks all enjoying the drizzle around us. The smell of fresh blooming flowers changed as I walked past each unique garden and eucalyptus filled the steamy air. I noticed my thoughts started to slow down as my breath steadied to keep my pace. There was a felt sense of stillness in my brain, even in keeping a brisk pace. My world became what was in front of me, not what has or may happen. So, I will take my time and notice things more.
