Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

Another goal update!

I’ve been trying to make my goal amounts mean something.
$1461 was the number of weeks my friend lived. I reached that goal.
The $1825, I added the months and years. I’ve reached that too!
It’s now $3129.
For my friend, 1461 weeks, 336 months, 28 years.
For me 1304 are the number of weeks I have lived and I have lived through ups and downs, and watched friends, family and strangers deal with so much. 
All together coming to $3129.
I am walking for my friend but I have to remember I am also walking for me, and for everyone. 

Increased fundraising goal.

I reached my $1461! 
As I’ve said before the goal was set at that amount for a reason, it was the number of weeks my friend lived.
I’ve increased my goal to $1825. An extra 336, for the months, and an extra 28 for the years.
I started this challenge not only for him but for me and Australia. To try and be a tiny cog in the large machine of change. I am so grateful to everyone who’s already donated, and to anyone who continues to.
Help me, help the Black Dog Institute in making a “better” mental health.

My “goal”

Goal 1- is to complete my 100 kilometres maybe more. 
 Goal 2- my goal amount of money raised is $1461, this number is not random… 1461 is the number of weeks my close friend was able to live. A life that was cut short by mental illness/suicide and a system that I wish could have done more. 
 Goal 3- to see the work the Black dog institute does make a positive impact on the mental health system. 
 Goal 4- to spread awareness, support, comfort, and hope. I myself have struggled with mental illnesses and the mental health “care” system. I’ve had good and bad experiences. Whether you or someone you know have experienced difficul times, at home or in a hospital, it does happen. It’s more common than anyone thinks, and is not talked about as much as it should. Conversations are the stepping stone to change. Change in relationships, friendships, schools, workplaces, and every part of the medical system.
 If walking a little and hoping donations come in, is the best I can do right now then I’m here to do it!
