Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Running vs the mind

through my life I've gone on and off running. I know when I keep it up I feel better for it. But during... omg.. some runs can be hard work mentally. The first few ks I am getting used to my breathing (unsure if I'm still a bit asthmatic) The next I am trying to hold the best posture and do all the right things to make it feel easier. Next I might have a goal to reach of i have a certain distance left that I want to achieve. Then when I know I am getting to the end of it, that's probably the hardest. Trying to stay in the mindset instead of having a finish line/distance. To just keep going past that. Each time pushing myself more. This morning I had ran 3 comfortably. So I decided to tag on an extra k while staying close to home. Then that turned ivy my usual goal of 5 k. I did it. But boy was it hot! I imagined my kids standing at the end of the road where I was trying to reach. Running towards them

First run for october

I missed out on the 1st and 2nd, so decided to go for a 15k run from one point to another in an afternoon after work. Running to me is tricky. First its getting past the heavy feeling, and the breathing, getting into the right mindset and just pushing through. By 12ks I started to feel things I haven't felt hurt before (since my longest runs have only been 10k, and only a handful). my knees, my inner thighs. my feet felt hot. there was a lot of "just keep going, 3 is too 15, you can do it" and im proud that I did.
