Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

I've followed your journey from the 1st time I met you and was a cheerleader at your basketball game...me and your mum were a bit if an embarrassment for you I think. You are a very talented man who has spent years honing your craft, loving what you do and contributing to others. 300kms!!! Brave indeed. Possibly band aids required. Good Luck 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Hey Josh, I heard from Deb Saville about your 300km trek to raise money for Mental Health. I am in awe of your goal and want to support you. I share 3 of your passions: music, sport and making a contribution to others. I’ve just finished my Film and Journalism degree and have focused some of my filming, producing and assignments around mental health issues.   Up to 35% of elite athletes suffer from a mental health crisis which may manifest as stress, eating disorders, burnout, or depression and anxiety.   After Isaac Humphries revealed his sexuality, he had suicidal ideation. He is now a vocal advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and men’s mental health.   Bryce Cotton had mental health struggles both when his brother died. Trying to get Australian Residency was also a very stressful time.   Bailey Smith tore his ACL, feared his AFL career might be over but with courage he shared his mental health issues publicly and went on to be a Brownlow Medal podium finisher.   Gemma Houghton lost her best friend Nicholas Duff to suicide. It affected Gemma’s on-field performances but after seeking help she became the first AFLW player to kick 100 career goals.   Mental health issues and substance abuse is well documented in many high performing music artists. The paparazzi and social media can have a massive negative impact - examples include Amy Winehouse, Elvis, Michael Jackson and Jelly Roll.   With my degree and studies, I feel we have a lot of common interests, Josh. Good Luck….and I hope that you surpass your $500 target.
