Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

That hill

I like to look back at the progress I have made so far. My times differ because when I walk with friends, it’s a casual walk with conversation and sometimes stops and starts to enjoy the scenery. When I go on these walks it is usually flat ground. when I go for a walk by myself it’s from my house. This is the walk I have to psyche myself up for because of the steep hill. Mind you once I am down the hill it’s usually flat but I stay at a steady pace. I think it’s the thought of going back up that hill that makes me want to keep pace, as though going faster is going to make it any easier. It’s the same as life, when we start something new it may seem daunting. And even if we try to rush through the learning phase it doesn’t necessarily get easier. We just need to take our time, just like that hill.

Hills

Today I walked up and down my street and although it’s not a big distance…it’s hilly! I could have rolled down the hill (but thought better of it). walking back was the challenge. I have been psyching myself up just to do this walk. On the way up the hill my inner voice was cheering me on and when I reached the top it praised my effort and encouraged me to do it a couple of more times because each time will get easier and easier. 😊
