My Updates

🌈 Walking Through Shadows ,Stepping Into Light; For Mental Health & Our LGBTIQA+ Community 🌈

This year, I’m walking with the Black Dog Institute because mental health isn’t just a cause.... it’s my lived reality.

I’ve carried dark thoughts, battled moments of self-harm, currently surviving through menopause and known the heartbreak of losing people I love to suicide.
These experiences aren’t rare in our community. LGBTIQA+ people face much higher rates of depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicide... not because of who we are, but because of the rejection, silence, and stigma we endure. Too often, our stories are unheard, our struggles invisible.

That’s why I’m walking.

I walk for myself, as a survivor.
I walk for those we’ve lost... whose stories ended too soon.
I walk for every queer person who feels unseen, unheard, or like the world would be easier without them.

As part of the Rainbow Freedom Riders, I’m walking with pride, with truth, and with hope. Our team represents resilience, inclusion, and the power of walking together... no matter how heavy the load. We walk because connection saves lives. We walk because visibility matters. We walk because every step chips away at stigma and makes space for healing.

The Black Dog Institute is leading vital research and education to change the way we understand and treat mental health. By walking, I’m not only honouring my own journey, but also helping to create a future where no one in our community has to suffer in silence.

For me, for us, for the LGBTIQA+ community... every step counts 🌈
