Support My Walk for Mental Health Research
Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?
Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.
This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.
I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.
It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.
Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.
I’m running 150km this October. Working as a Registered Nurse within the Mental Health discipline has provided the inspiration for further research into education and best practice. Further, I myself have experienced challenges with my own mental health including attempts to end my life. I have had friends attempt and complete suicide over the years, and I want every person to know that even in your darkest hours, you are loved. Mental illness affects many Australians. In my closest circle of family and friends I have peers who experience a multitude of challenges; depression, anxiety, BPD, bipolar, schizoaffective disorder, cPTSD, and they are an incredible group of humans. Your diagnosis doesn’t define you; naming the beast simply teaches us how to fight it. For anyone who has struggled, felt alone, or hasn’t been able to unscramble their brain: this is for you.
