Mary Cornwall

My walk is dedicated to the memory of my loved one, Barry

There is far too much suicide. It sucks to be the one left behind, but we don't really have any idea of just how much they are suffering. Noone is alone. If only we knew how to fix them

Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

The why

Soooo much to live for

Day 10 the why

Barry is the one that would sit up around the campfire and tell stories and jokes and dissect the days fishing. That came to a screaming halt in July 23 when he fell over the edge. He then spent twelve months chasing doctors and medications seeking instant health. Not content and too tired to persevere, he made the comment "if I have to live like this it isn't worth living" And with that he took his own life on 10 July 2024. The day before his birthday. He would have turned 72. I miss him every day and I miss what he is missing out on. Its not just about those who suicide, its also about those left behind, always wondering what if.... The journal and photos have been a hard emotional jouney. And I feel for everyone tied up in the nightmare that is mental health.

Day 9

No four legged creatures whilst walking, but just look at who was waiting patiently for me to get home from walkies.

Wheelies wednesday

you can lean on me

Wheelies wednesday

Day 7

A bridge too far, that must be how it feels for soo many people trying to overcome the depths of depression. We need to ensure that we join them in taking one foot forward until they reach the end of that bridge safely.

Day 6

Carry it around in your pocket. Feed off 'positives' only. Not much walkies today, most of the day in trains.

Merri creek

day 5

Rail trail

Rail Trail

Day 5 selfies sunday

While I am out and about and trying to clock up a few klms around Warrnambool Rail Trail and Merri Creek, the family is at puppy training with their newest fur baby.

Day 4

Keep those fluids up. If you are feeling thirsty then you are already getting dehydrated. If you find tap water hard to swallow, put a slice of lemon in with your water and into the fridge so it's nice and cold.

Day 3

Finally getting a handle on the app klms counter. Today walked with daughter and her friend and they commented 'klms sound about right' Was going to buy a stranger a cup of coffee for my 'random act of kindness', but instead was led to donating to a random person. It's all about the cause.....mental health support

Day 1
