Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

Halfway there

I’m over halfway to my walking goal, and halfway through October but realised I haven’t spread the word for donations at all. Life gets in the way and I’m not great at promotion. So here goes… I’m walking to support awareness for mental health and the work being done by the Black Dog Institute. I’m walking in support of friends, family, colleagues who are struggling through mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. I’m walking because it’s one of the daily habits that help me clear my mind, and keep the black dog at bay. I’ve been challenged by loss, grief and trauma over the past few years myself. I’m walking as a tribute to my late dad Rick who loved to walk, but in his later years was restricted to a mobility scooter. He also suffered through mental health challenges as a result of many complex medical issues. I miss my Dad. Donate if you can. Talk to your mates and loved ones.
