Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Great news

My husband has been approved to be readmitted to a Private hospital and is being readmitted tomorrow morning. As much as it has created more anxiety for him, I'm feeling some relief that he will be in professional care for the next 3 weeks for stabilisation and the ongoing care he so desperately he needs. Tomorrow is going to be a really tough day. We will get through this together ❤️ 🙏 💪

Doing what i can

It's been a very tough week this week. My husband overdosed 6 days ago and we are having to jump through ridiculous hoops set by his employer's insurance company to get him readmitted into a Private facility. The stress of trying to make it happen so that he can get the best possible care is unimaginable. I am so greatful for the help and support my mother has provided by keeping an eye on him when I need to leave the house, ensuring he is NEVER left alone. She may have to cancel her return flight home unless we get an admission date tomorrow. This disease is not something to take lightly. Stay vigilant, look for signs of self harm. I didn't see them initially but now I'm super observant to everything he does and says.

Motivation is key

My husband has not been well for nearly 18 months. He spent 7 months in hospital. During that time we had a whole lot of other things happen as well. It felt like our world was crashing down on us. We both had our fathers pass away, the house we had recently moved in to was sold, leaving me to find another house to move into, pack, move and unpack. Our dog became lame 4 weeks after moving, we had to make a decision about treatment, will she live or will we let her go, all whilst my wonderful husband was receiving inpatient care. I'm so glad to say I've had my husband home again, it's been 7 months however he still has a long road to go to even start to feel anything other than the way he does now, trying to find the medications that will work for him. He is my inspiration, his resilience, persistence and strength through all of this is amazing. I couldn't imagine a world without him in it. I love you honey. One day at a time. We'll get through this together. I'm not going anywhere, I promise xxx
