Support My Walk for Mental Health Research
Nine months ago, our world changed forever when we lost our beautiful son Sam. Sam was a gifted young artist whose life was cut short by his battle with mental health. He was, and is, deeply loved and his creativity touched many.
In the midst of our heartbreak and deep grief, we are choosing to walk forward with purpose, love and hope.
On Saturday 18 October, our family and friends will come together for a special walk in memory of Sam. We are walking to honour Sam and to shine a light on the urgent youth mental health crisis in Australia. It will be a chance to come together in compassion, connection and remembrance and an opportunity to walk past some of Sam's street art and the work of other creatives who, like him, expressed themselves on our city's walls.
We will meet at 1pm at Yarra Bank Reserve, Hawthorn (off Creswick St) for a relaxed 10km walk, before returning to the reserve for a bbq.
By joining us, or by supporting the cause through donation, you'll be helping the Black Dog Institute continue it's vital work in youth mental health research, prevention and support.
We will walk for Sam.

Steps For Sammy
Starting tomorrow, and throughout October, I’ll be walking with purpose, for Sam.
It’s been nine months since we lost our beautiful boy, and in that time, walking has become a source of deep comfort. Whether with family, friends, or on my own, each walk, whether brisk or slow, chatty or quiet, is helping me heal.
It’s often during these walks that I feel closest to Sam and find myself talking to him the most.
So, if you’d like to join me, I’d love that. I’m up for short strolls, long treks, coffee walks, wine walks, riverside sits, whatever feels right. I’ll be sharing photos and stories of my walking buddies and the little adventures we have along the way.
Whether you walk with me or simply cheer me on from afar, thank you. Every step is for Sam.
