Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Not just mum or support worker

Why I’m Taking One Foot Forward 💙 This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward as a proud member of our team, Foo-t Fighters. For me, this challenge is about so much more than walking kilometres. It’s about raising awareness, starting conversations and showing support for every person and every family who has been impacted by mental health struggles. Mental health is something very close to my heart. Through both my personal life and my work as a support worker, I have seen just how much someone can be carrying behind a smile. I’ve seen the strength it takes to get through the difficult days, and I’ve seen how important it is for people to know they are supported and that someone is willing to walk beside them. As a mum, there is nothing harder than watching someone you love struggle and wishing you could take that pain away for them. Sometimes you can’t fix what they are going through — but you can stand beside them, listen, advocate for them and remind them that they matter. That is one of the biggest reasons I’m doing One Foot Forward. Every kilometre I walk will be for the people fighting battles others may never see. For the families standing beside them. For those we have lost. And for everyone who gets up each day and keeps putting one foot in front of the other, even when life feels incredibly heavy. Our team name might be a little bit of fun — Foo-t Fighters 👣💙 — but the reason behind what we are doing means a great deal to us. I want our kilometres to help raise both awareness and funds for mental health research and support. But I also want them to start conversations. If sharing our journey encourages even one person to reach out, ask for help, check on a friend, or realise they aren’t alone, then every step will be worth it. So throughout October, I’ll keep moving forward. One foot. One kilometre. One conversation at a time. If you would like to support Foo-t Fighters, whether by donating, sharing our journey, joining us or simply cheering us on, it would mean more than you know. Together, we can help make a difference. 💙👣 Every step has a purpose. Every conversation matters. And every person matters.

Every year i dontate money towards raising money for mental health. The problem seems to be growing. When covid hit everyone was freaking out. I looked around in shock wondering how everyone could be so blind. The real epidemic was already well and truly underway and most people weren't talking about it. Teenage mental health is worse then ever. Nationally it seems to be worse then ever. We all know people who are struggling. Some talk about it and some do not. We need to break the stigma. We need to be there each other.. Thank you Rachael for acknowledging this epidemic. Thank you acting apon it.
