Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Yay did it!

Ok so that's a wrap! But Im going g to continue walking until the end and then some!

Day 23 weary legs!

Legs feel a bit weary today. So took it slow and steady. Had my little sidekick here today. And of course my dogs are always somewhat eager 😁

Day 20th On target

I am overwhelmed by all the support that I have received from the OFF community and to my generous supporters. I am not only doing this just for the kilometers or fundraising target. I am doing it because I want people to become aware of others who are struggling with their mental health. For those who wake up and find the day difficult. Please know that you are not alone. Think about going out for a little walk in the early morning or late afternoon. Find a park, sit under a tree, maybe somewhere by the water or a fountain. Take a look around at the little wonders of life and the simple things. Reach out for support. There are people who love you and care for you. Rosie, Rocky and Digger

19th october

Inspired by all the stories on our FB page. People out there walking with injuries, sadness, grief all with a common aim. To let people who are struggling with their mental know they are not alone.

Day 13 oh no

On my first walk today.. I lost my FitBit .. Oh dear . Good news was I did two more walks tracing my steps But Alas .. no luck. Luckily the app on my phone still tracked most of my steps. So good day in the end .. 😌

Day 12 love the weekends

So today went to the Farmers market early and then a big walk home. Had birthday cake with my little grand-daughter and then had a big session at the gym 🏋️‍♂️💪 Managed to fit in some work too. Hope everyone is well and remember its also okay to have a not-so-good day .. cos tomorrow we get another crack at it 🤪

Day 11 phew bit hard today

Woke up a bit stiff today. but getting up early and heading out the door for my first walk loosened the body up. Great thing about walking is that it is low impact and you can pace yourself. Also gives you a lift when you get to say hi to others walking or strolling. Treated myself to a massage today.. which was lovely 😍 Feeling blessed

Day 9 my 3 year old grand-daughter birthday

Today I started the day with 5000step walk with my dogs. One of which also had his 5th birthday today. The we had a family day at Australia zoo and walked for hours and it was fabulous. Finished off with a walk this evening around Cooroy and the sports fields. Am enjoying parking further away, taking stairs instead of lifts.

Day 8

Beautiful walk tonight with big dog (Little Rocky needed a break). Was sore last night .. but woke up refreshed. Great meeting other dog walkers. Loving Facebook community board and the support and ❤️

Day 7 done ✔️

dogs are a bit tuckered out and we will all sleep 😴 well. Hope everyone has had the best day they could. Go easy. Tomorrow is a brand new day x

Day 6 best day yet

So managed a big day out walking. The weather is perfect and the walk helps shift the mood. May not get as many in the next few days because of work commitments.. but will do my best. Feeling a bit sore today ... but its worth it!

Day 4 great day with a little help with my friends

Beautiful day today on the Sunshine Coast. Went walking in the morning with my dogs and grand-daughter along the Noosa River. Then hit the gym for a workout and finished off the day with a walk around our neighbourhood. Sometimes a difficult start to the day gets better when you get out in the Sunshine and watch the light on the water and all the happy dogs coming up to greet you. It just takes one step at a time @onefootforward

Day 3 8.68km

It was a bit harder getting the steps in today ..but we did okay in the end. It was a beautiful day

Day 2 happy dogs

The dogs and I had two lovely walks today. I think they are going to like this challenge!

Day 1

Started the day at the gym. Then walked as much as I could at lunchtime and tonight with the dogs and ended up with 11.2 klm!
