Sole purpose 👣 – walking 50km for mental health

This year, my daughter and I have joined the One Step Forward challenge with a mission that’s close to our hearts: walking 50 kilometres to raise awareness and funds for mental health. We’ve named our team Sole Purpose 👣, because every step we take has meaning. It’s not just about the distance — it’s about walking with heart, walking with love, and walking in solidarity with every Australian impacted by mental illness and suicide. Mental health touches all of us, whether directly or through someone we love. Too many people suffer in silence, feeling alone in their struggles. By stepping forward together, we want to help break the stigma, spark conversations, and show that no one should ever feel they have to walk this journey alone. One of the deepest reasons we walk is to shine a light on teen suicide. It breaks our hearts that so many young people feel the weight of hopelessness at an age when life should be opening up with possibility. No parent, no sibling, no friend should ever have to experience such a loss. By walking, we honour those precious lives gone too soon and pledge to fight for a future where our kids — and every young person — feel supported, connected, and worthy of life. For us, this challenge is more than a fundraiser. It’s a way to honour lives lost, to support those still fighting, and to shine a light of hope for brighter days ahead. Each kilometre we walk is a pledge: that mental health matters, that life matters, and that community and compassion can change lives. We invite you to stand with us. Whether it’s through a donation, a message of encouragement, or simply by sharing our story — every gesture makes a difference. Together, step by step, we can create a world where mental health is nurtured, and hope is never lost. Thank you for supporting our Sole Purpose 👣.

Support Our Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.

This October, our team is taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.

We're walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support our walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.
