Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Four months later 👣

Not many of you know, but the last four months have looked very different for me. In April, one wrong step changed pretty much everything. I fractured my fibula and badly injured my ankle, requiring surgery, a plate and screws. Suddenly I went from fiercely independent and always on the go to crutches, a moon boot and relying on others for the simplest things. I couldn’t drive. I couldn’t work normally. I couldn’t just get up and walk out the door. Recovery has taken longer than expected, including a second surgery, but recently something ridiculously ordinary happened. I put on two shoes. 👟👟 So I’ve decided to celebrate getting back on my feet by doing something positive. This October I’m taking part in One Foot Forward for Black Dog Institute, aiming to walk 60 km across the month and raise $1,000 for mental health research. 60 km is my goal, not a guarantee. My ankle is still recovering, so I’ll build gradually and see where these two feet take me. Four months ago, walking normally felt a very long way away. Now I’d like every kilometre to count for something more. Two shoes. 60 km. One very good reason. 👣
