Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

4.8km - gladstone marina

I haven’t logged a walk since the beginning due to not doing any purposeful walks since being sick, I have been active but haven’t felt that it should be counted. I’m still sick but now that I’m back home it’s easier to get a full purposeful walk in.

Morning walk - winton

I am starting this challenge off a little ways from home (Gladstone) in the big town of Winton. Theo and I started our walk from our motel this morning and walked the Main Street looking at the Art displays along the way. Just a short walk this morning as we are sick, we will hopefully get another walk in this afternoon in Longreach.

Why i’m taking part in one foot forward

I’ve decided to participate in One Foot Forward because of my own journey with mental health and the challenges that come with trying to keep moving forward, even when things feel difficult. For me, having a goal to work towards can make a real difference. It gives me something positive to focus on, a reason to get up and keep going, and a sense of achievement when I reach milestones along the way. I want to prove to myself that setting a goal, no matter how big or small, can help create motivation and give you something to look forward to. One Foot Forward is a personal challenge for me, but it also represents something bigger. Every step is a reminder that progress doesn’t have to happen all at once. Sometimes it’s simply about putting one foot in front of the other and continuing to move forward. I hope that by taking part, I can challenge myself, build my confidence and show myself that I am capable of achieving something I set my mind to. Most importantly, I want to use this experience as a positive reminder that even on the harder days, there is always another step forward. I’m proud to be taking part in One Foot Forward and to turn my own journey into something positive — one step at a time.
