Please Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

For those of you who don't know my story I have suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder since I was 21 years old when I was in an armed hold up and had a sawn off shotgun held to my head. Whilst the holdup lasted less than a few minutes the affect on my life was forever. It changed the person I was and altered my life irrevocably. I went through some very dark times dealing with this, grieving for the life I had 'lost' but after many years came out the other side thanks to the amazing support of my family. My life will never be the same, I will never be that same person again, but I have made peace with that and now have a wonderful life and beautiful family who I love dearly.

I consider myself very lucky, sadly not all people come out the other side which is why I'm taking part in this challenge again. If by me putting myself out there and sharing my story can help others to feel comfortable in talking about how they're feeling and seek help then I will be very happy.  Sadly Mental Illness still has a stigma attached to it which we need to break down and start conversations happening.

If you are in a position to and would like to contribute to my challenge I would be extremely grateful.  Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated.

I truly believe that together we can make a difference.
