Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Week one is done. week two let's go

It's been a difficult year for me mentally. I've had ups and downs. Although I'm in a place where my physical health is "ok". I've failed to meet the goals and expectations I set for myself. I haven't stepped foot in the gym for over a month, maybe two. and I feel guilty, ashamed and annoyed with myself. Perhaps by walking ~1 hour a day may give me the kick I need to get back there. I'll let you know in my next update. Plus I've got a wedding to attend and summer is drawing near. gotta get the summer bod. hahaha. or at least not out grow the suit.

Day 01 4kms. and a bit of an info dump.

My mental health over the last few years has not been great. I've struggled internally for such a long time I didn't know there was a way out. Last year I quit my job. and everything changed. But not everything was sunshine and rainbows. My depression has eaten away at myself, my family and my partner. So last year as a way to process, I joined up and I walked. It helped, although I recommend headphones because it's not pleasant walking for hours and only hearing your own internal monologue. I didn't think I'd reach the 150km target. Even came down to the last day. 1km left to finish as I trick-or-treated with (most) of my family. and it was great to have them there for it. even if they didn't know. This year I'm walking again because mental health is important, and the idea that any money I can raise can help a kid during a time of their life where they. are struggling? that's a worthy cause in my book. If you have the ability to financially support my walking challenge I would be so grateful for your donation. If that isn't something you can find within your budget? I understand. I hope instead you could like, share or comment on any of my updates. I don't know how it works, But if my posts, or my ugly mug gets in front of more people perhaps someone will be able to donate. And at the very least it will give pause for people to perhaps start the conversation, and that's pretty important too. Day 01. 4kms. Walking with my son is to the shops so he can waste his birthday money on a video game. Oh to be young and carefree again. Love Love.
