I’m walking in solidarity this October for Australians affected by mental illness and suicide. You are not alone. I've personally been impacted both directly and indirectly mental illness and/or suicide stemming from both commonly documented and "socially understandable circumstances" like postpartum depression/anxiety, grief, genetics or addiction and also from the beautiful people who don't show their struggles to the naked eye like a list of signs or symptoms. No matter how it manifests or if there is one reason why it's happened to you, you are not alone.

Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Realty hits, so do my shoes on the pavement

Real life routine slams me back to the mad rushed dance for that elusive balance I have been chasing since becoming a parent. But it doesn't deter me! My determination to be more consistent with my daily distances has reaped a different and welcomed reward: mindfulness. I set off trying to tick off a "decent" walk or increase movement during my day to hopefully convert into what comes close to a "decent" walk and I come back with a mind that is a little clearer and my chest a little looser. I do find myself enjoying testing that by taking a deep breath in and allowing myself to sit in that lightness after releasing that deep breath. Thank you to my generous sponsors so far for your contributions to my personal goal. Might I tempt some of you to donate a little more by my walking a little more? On 22nd October I will be achieving my personal best distance walked by dedicating a significant proportion of my day to this challenge. Of course, I will be providing photographic evidence and quite possibly a catalog of my reward meal on that day for your viewing pleasure and reassurance. if ya like to see it, donate! thank you!

Starting october strong!

I have been abroad on what was supposed to be a restful retreat when One Foot Forward officially began but of course, for those of you who know me: I can't sit idle for long! Between days of rest and relaxation by the pool, I did attend not 1 but 2 Muay Thai classes. Needless to say it kicked my butt and significantly increased my movement count. And my being on holidays may also explain the strange # of kms and end of day total duration of movement recorded by my fitness watch. See below the screenshot receipt for the first week of October and feel free to cross check my manual data entry onto the official One Foot Forward records. I intend to earn every dollar donation for this deeply personal cause!
