My Updates
Hope, Healing and New Beginnings
Family Violence Trauma changed my life in ways I never imagined.Depression brought deep despair, sadness, exhaustion and brain fog. I struggled with shame, guilt, hopelessness and feeling worthless. I felt totally helpless, like a babe in the woods. Anxiety left me living with overwhelming emotions, fear and hypervigilance.
In the midst of it all, I developed alcoholism and a hoarding disorder. For a long time, I felt as though I had completely lost myself and any resemblence of a future outside my pain and suffering.
I also know, through the heartbreaking loss of my estranged brother, just how devastating mental health struggles can be. He tragically lost his life after battling mental health illness. His loss has deepened my determination to speak openly about mental health, encourage people to seek support, and remind others that they don't have to face their struggles alone.
Thankfully my story doesn't end in the misery I thought it would.
With the love and care of friends and support of the many wonderful services available, I have come through the worst of it and recovering, rebuilding my life and rediscovering the self I thought I'd lost.
This walk is more than a fundraiser for me. It represents hope, healing and taking steps forward — literally and emotionally.
I want to help others who are suffering know they are not alone, their struggles do not define them, and recovery is possible.
Every step I take is a step away from despair and towards a life rebuilt with hope, connection and purpose.
If my story resonates with you, I would be incredibly grateful for your support. If you know someone who supports Mental Health research and support services then please forward on. Thank you so much. 🙏❤️ Share

First 7kms today. Myself and my departed brother Steve were affected by severe mental illness and suicide. I am walking to bring HOPE for all suffering. 🙏❤️🌻
