Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

Day 7

🛴🚶‍♀️ ONE STEP CHALLENGE | 4KM IN THE BAG! 💚 Who says you need a gym to get a decent workout in? A scooter, a skatepark, a few suburban streets and a willingness to get moving were all we needed today! We kicked things off with a quick session at the skatepark before heading out to explore the neighbourhood on foot. And just like that, another 4km was done and dusted! 💪 One thing I’ve noticed working with young people is that sometimes the simplest activities have the biggest impact. Walking gives us time to talk about absolutely everything or nothing at all. There’s no sitting across from each other asking questions, no awkward silences to fill and no pressure to have a conversation. Sometimes we chat. Sometimes we laugh. Sometimes we just walk. And that’s perfectly okay. Not every afternoon needs to be packed with exciting activities or big achievements. Sometimes showing up, getting moving and enjoying each other’s company is more than enough. Today’s effort: 4km and another afternoon well spent! 💚 #OneStepChallenge #SafeConnections #YouthSupport #OutdoorAdventures #PositiveConnections

🚶‍♀️🛴 one step challenge | another afternoon of adventure! 💚

Another afternoon out and about, making the most of our time together! Monday was all about getting outdoors, staying active and enjoying a change of scenery. We explored the walking tracks, got some kilometres under our belts and then headed over to the skatepark for some scooter action! 🛴 What I love most about afternoons like these is that physical activity doesn’t have to feel like exercise. It’s an opportunity to build connections, encourage independence, develop confidence and support positive mental wellbeing. Sometimes the best conversations happen while walking side by side, and sometimes the biggest achievements come from simply getting outside and giving something a go. No screens, no pressure, just fresh air, movement, a few laughs and another afternoon well spent! 💚 It’s not just about the kilometres we cover. It’s about the connections we build along the way. #OneStepChallenge #SafeConnections #YouthSupport #ActiveLiving #MakingEveryStepCount

6 days in already 😅

🚶‍♀️🛴 ONE STEP CHALLENGE — 5.5KM DONE! Another day, another 5.5km added to the challenge! 💪💚 Today we headed out to the park and smashed out 3.5km walking together, following the tracks, chatting, moving and getting those steps in. Then it was time for me to give my little legs a rest 😂 while the young person I support hit the skatepark on his scooter and clocked up another 2km! 🛴🔥 That brings today’s effort to: 🚶‍♀️ 3.5km walking together 🛴 2km scooter riding 🏆 5.5km total movement The whole point of this challenge is making movement fun, achievable and something we can do together. It doesn’t have to look like a workout — sometimes it’s just getting outside, exploring, having a laugh and seeing how far we can go. 5.5km closer to smashing our One Step Challenge! 💚 #OneStepChallenge #SafeConnections #YouthSupport #GetMoving #OneStepAtATime

Day 3 – 4km together 🌊🍦💙

Another 4 km added to the challenge today! 👟 We headed out together, walked down to the train station, crossed over and made the very important stop for an ice cream 🍦 Then it was down to the beach for a walk along the sand before making our way back across the station and home. 🚶 4 km walked together 👟 Around 5,500–6,500 steps 🍦 Ice cream pit stop 🌊 Beach walk 💙 Plenty of conversation and laughs along the way Finding ways to make movement enjoyable is exactly what this challenge is about. It doesn’t have to feel like exercise when you’re out exploring and having a good time. Day 3 DONE ✅ Another 4 km smashed! 💪 #SafeConnections #OneStepChallenge #SupportWork #GettingActive #CommunityAccess

Day 2: 7km smashed out 🛴🔥

Day 2 and we absolutely smashed it! 💪 Today the young person covered an incredible 7 km on their scooter, getting active while doing something they genuinely enjoy. The goal of this challenge isn’t just about kilometres or steps. It’s about finding fun ways to move, getting out into the community and making physical activity something to look forward to. Day 2: 7 km ✅ Another huge effort and plenty more kilometres to come! 🛴💙

Day 1 — starting strong! 💪🧡

Day 1 of the challenge and we’re off to a cracking start! 🧡 Today was all about getting moving and making the kilometres count. Between walking together and some serious scooter/skatepark kilometres from the young person I was supporting, we managed to log 10.5 km of activity altogether! 🛴🚶‍♀️ I personally walked around 3 km, which I’m pretty proud of considering my little legs 😂 The rest came from keeping active together and plenty of laps on wheels! Such a fun way to kick off the challenge, and I love that we could turn getting active into something enjoyable at the same time. Day 1: 10.5 km logged ✅ Bring on Day 2! 🧡💪

Walking for something bigger 🧡

This October, a young person I support and I are taking on the One Foot Forward challenge together to raise funds and awareness for mental health. 🧡👣

At 14, life should be full of opportunities to explore, try new things, build confidence and discover just how capable you are.

As a youth support worker, I’m a big believer that some of the best conversations don’t happen sitting across a table. They happen while you’re walking, exploring, laughing, getting outside your comfort zone and simply spending time alongside someone.

So throughout October, we’ll be clocking up the kilometres together. There will probably be some complaining about tired legs, plenty of laughs, a little healthy competition and hopefully some great memories along the way.

Most importantly, every kilometre will be for something bigger than us: helping support better mental health for Australians.

If you’d like to support our challenge, every donation is genuinely appreciated. 🧡

One foot in front of the other. We’ve got this. 👣
