Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

Day 7. 6km. Today’s run felt like a good reminder of what One Foot Forward is really about. Mental health isn’t always about “beating” something. Sometimes the black dog is still there. Some days it walks quietly beside you, other days it feels a lot heavier. There’s a line often attributed to Martin Luther King Jr. that fits this challenge well: “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” let’s goooo

Ouch !

Hurt my back deadlifting today … still managed to smash out a 2 k run before switching over to the rowing machine for another 3 km adapt and overcome !

Long ass day

Surprise biopsy. Finished work near 10pm. Away from family. Sore. Raining outside. I had a very respectable list of excuses. But resilience isn’t always some Rocky montage. Sometimes it’s a shopping trolley with a dodgy wheel, making horrible noises and pulling sideways while you stubbornly keep pushing it forward. Tonight, that meant 5km. 25:23. Not because today was easy. Because it wasn’t.
