Support My Challenge!

It's somehow already that time of year again - time for my annual ramble about something very close to my heart. This October, for the fourth year in a row, I'll be lacing up a fresh new pair of kicks for Black Dog Institute’s #OneFootForward challenge.

I have witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of mental illness and the incredible strength of those who battle it. I’ve struggled with my own mental health challenges for many years, lost loved ones to their battle, and continue to support others on their journey to recovery.

Last year, I was incredibly grateful to have raised over $2500, and whilst my mammoth effort of 400km was extremely rewarding, walking an average of 13 kilometers each day (intentional not incidental) was not kind on my feet and hips at all.

Therefore, this year, I've set a slightly more realistic, and even more meaningful km goal. For those who know me personally know that I love weird number combinations and equations and quite literally love making relationships out of nothing. So this year, I have come up with the goal of ***360km***, a number which is a product of key mental health statistics frequently cited by the Black Dog Institute’s research.

*On average, 6 Australians lose their life to suicide each day, and another 30 will attempt suicide. That's 36 people in crisis every single day.

*This year, October will span across 5 weeks - 36 x 5 = 180.

*I've multiplied this total by 2 to honour the powerful Black Dog Institute logo, which are two fingers representing a "V" for victory.

I would be so grateful if you would consider donating to my page. Every dollar helps the Black Dog Institute fund critical research and support services.
