Gail

I recall way back when - when I was at school and still very young, a kid in my class took his own life at a shockingly young age. More recently a close friend lost their dear father the same way. So many struggle with mental health and I always think it could be me. Earlier this month, my same friend posted on World Mental Health Day that ‘an estimated one in eight people live with a mental health condition, which can negatively impact their health and well-being. That means we all know several people who are struggling with their mental health – yet we may be unaware of their suffering, or perhaps unsure how to support them,’ urging people to talk about mental health, and advocate for better education and access to mental health support. Now that I am coming to the end of the month and participation in the One-Foot Forward challenge, it would be remiss of me to come to the end of the month and not advocate for mental health through posting something. And also urge people to talk about mental health, and advocate for better education and access to mental health support.

Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.
