Support my walk for mental health research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year? This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide. I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most. It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk. Together, we canΒ create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Day #13 - #15

This week been a big one of emotions. Farewells, endings, leaps of faith, laughter, love and togetherness. Walking has helped process all of this and get the endorphins flowing for a new day. 70km and counting πŸ™πŸ»

Day #12

$865 raised so far by our little family team and pounding the pavement counting up the kms. Not only does it feel good raising money for mental health, it feels good with a focus which in turn is helping my own mental health. Thank you BDI πŸ™πŸ»

Day #11

I got to 50km! So happy to be ahead of schedule and to have raised approx $800 for such a mental health πŸ™πŸ»

Day #10

A good fast solo walk followed by relaxed walk with Tim & Maple today. 4km off the 50 πŸ˜πŸ™πŸ»

Day #9

Safety Mates day, so I figured if they can offer up $150K I push a little harder. An impulse decision then saw me power walk with a little bit of jogging to the gym, did Pilates and home again. Just over 6km added to the tally, with the Hope now to reach 50km by Sunday πŸ™πŸ»

Day #8

Dinner with another BDI supporter… what can I say… food for the soul. my cup is full xx

Day #7

Not much to write tonight.. no photos to share either. Just a busy day. still found my reason to be thankful, a beautiful message from a dear friend x

Day #6

Today has been about appreciating some big & little moments, sitting in silence and finding strength in all sorts of comfortable and new moments. Sometimes it’s the littlest of moments we treasure x

Day #5

Back to work today so an early walk with Timmy & Maple. Great way to start the day.

Day #4

Day 4, 22km down & feeling good. Changes of routine, stepping outside the norm and a good dose of vitamin D.

Day #3

For a long time now, I have been a believer in finding something every day I am grateful for, no matter how small. It helps even on the toughest of days. Today I am thankful for everyone who has sponsored us in the last few days. We appreciate you. Your support has taken our fundraising to Level 2 - $385 $385 can help 116 students feel seen and safe because their teachers are trained to support their mental wellbeing. Thank you xx PS updated our goal to level 3 - $550 πŸ™πŸ»πŸ§‘

Day #2

Again so grateful for the support we’ve received today with our overall family total sitting at $385. Maple usually walks with Tim however because of rain earlier this morning, she got to come with me and our walking buddies, I think she’ll sleep well tonight! While we walk, I’m also exploring the Black Dog Institute resources and website to help support my nearest and dearest and myself. Did you know they have an online clinic? https://onlineclinic.blackdoginstitute.org.au/?s=w

Feeling grateful

Super thankful for the support today.Β

Β When we decided to sign up, we really didn’t think I’d get to $100 which is why we set a low goal.Β

I’ve changed that goal three times today. Β

My goal now is $385 as that’s the next milestone allowing Black Dog Institute to make a difference.Β

Β Thanks again, we appreciate you.

Day #1

A solo walk, good to clear the mind and focus on the challenge and its purpose.

Tomorrow we start 100kms

A week ago the Black Dog Institute One Foot Forward popped up in my social media feed and it got my attention. Anxiety is something I have experienced personally and something I’ve seen family suffer with. Simple tasks can become not so simple, life can become complicated. Walking is something I love to do so why not walk to raise awareness and much needed funds. Tomorrow I will start to walk towards my goal of 100km for October.
