Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Strolling avenue of champagne

We putting in some very delicious steps for OFF by strolling up & down the Avenue of Champagne, ensuring we stayed hydrated by popping into to a couple of champagne houses to sample to local hydration offerings!

Slogathon

It was ugly but I added 42.2km of running by completing the Melbourne marathon on Sunday. It was hard. I was woefully unprepared (read-i had not been for a single run of any distance since the Canberra marathon in April). I wanted to quit. Everything hurt. My head had LOTS of stories it wanted to tell me about myself. But this challenge, supporting people with mental problems, keeping my commitment to the wonderful people who had donated to me kept me literally putting one foot forward after another. And eventually the finish line came into sight & I had somehow managed to get through it. Many didn’t, I’ve never seen so many people half unconscious being treated with IV saline lying in gutters, on footpaths & one poor woman who my heart breaks for, who was passed out on the turf of the MCG less than 100m from the finish line. It was a brutal day, but as hard as that was mentally & physically living with MH challenges is infinitely harder, & it was that thought that kept me going. MH needs more support. People need help. People need organisations like the BDI to help them run their own mental marathon every single day.

Thanks!

Thanks to all the legends that have supported mine & the duckies efforts for a 7th year in a row. I’m proud to have surpassed my fund raising target on the eve of the Melbourne marathon & will proudly be wearing my tailored Black Dog running top with “PTSD WONT BEAT ME” on the back.
