Support My run for Mental Health Research
Across the month October, I will be running 40km to support my dad and other Australians living with mental health challenges.
My dad served in the SAS and has lived with chronic depression and PTSD for many years. Over the past few months, I have seen firsthand just how difficult navigating the mental health system can be. At times, he has been missed and forgotten within the system, heavily medicated without receiving the broader support he needed, and left struggling to access consistent and appropriate care. While there have been people who have genuinely tried to help him, his experience has highlighted the significant gaps that still exist for people experiencing complex and ongoing mental health challenges.
There needs to be greater access to support, better education, continued research and more effective treatment options so that people aren’t left to fall through the cracks when they are at their most vulnerable.
That’s why this October I’m taking part in One Foot Forward and raising funds for the Black Dog Institute. Every kilometre I run is for my dad, but also for every Australian and every family who has experienced the impact of mental illness. 💙
Any donation, big or small, will be greatly appreciated.
And if you’re unable to donate, simply sharing my fundraiser can make a difference too.
