Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

Cusco puru

Now we have arrived in Cusco Peru 🇵🇪, we spend the next 2 full days in Acclimatisation ‘mode’, allowing our bodies to adapt to the altitude. Currently at approx 3400masl - walked up to 3800 this morning. Tomorrow is an early start visiting the ‘Sacred Valley’ plenty of pics to come. Wednesday our time , we start our big trek up through the Salkantay Pass with a 4.30am start 🙈 The big mileage will really start to kick in and we will climb to over 4800 mtrs on Thursday.

Here we go ✈️🇵🇪

Boarded and waiting to push back …. My wonderful trail leader and bestie PT, Cherie Horne is onboard and ready to go . I’ll make sure I get up and do some steps in the air every hour. Given the altitude do I get double the step count ?? or check in again soon

Unfortunately, there won’t be many kms today ! About to check in at Melb Int for my trip to Peru 🇵🇪 Do steps on 27 hours of flight time count?✈️😂 will definitely make up for it next Wednesday when we start our climb after a few days of acclimatisation ⛰️🚶👏🏻

Day 2 : no walk completed

Felt a bit flat and anxious about my big trek to Peru , leaving Sunday Oct 4th. Not a great day but there’s always tomoz🇵🇪⛰️🙏

Day 1 down

Spent part of my day walking around Southland getting last few things for my trip to Peru. Not a dedicated , focused effort but in a few days I will well and truly be into the big blocks and effort climbing the Salkantay Pass, Peru, rising above 4600mtrs at it’s Summit. Stay tuned peeps ⛰️🙌🚶🇵🇪
