Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience symptoms of mental illness each year?

Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them.

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

🏁 One Foot Forward — The Finish Line! 🏁

Well, that’s a wrap! Today marks the final day of the Black Dog Institute / One Foot Forward challenge, and we well and truly left it all out on the road — literally! 😂

We even clocked a 9.50 1km split, which I’m claiming as “elite pace” (don’t fact-check that).

I wrapped up the month with 71km, feeling great and honestly a bit overwhelmed by all the support, encouragement, and generosity we’ve received. You’ve all been incredible — every like, comment, and donation has meant the world. 🙌

Team Prendo absolutely smashed it! Together we’ve covered a whopping 176km and raised an incredible $4,534 for mental health. 💙

That’s real impact — proof that every small step (and every sweaty one) makes a difference.

Huge thanks to everyone who’s backed us, cheered us on, or joined in the laughs along the way — we couldn’t have done it without you.
And a massive shoutout to my crew — you kept me moving when the coffee didn’t! ☕😅

There’s still a little time left if you’d like to jump on board and support this amazing cause.

For now, the shoes might get a short rest… but the message continues:
Be kind, check in, and remember — you never walk alone. 🤟❤️

Family

Job done for Kelsi! 👏💪

Job done for Kelsi! 👏💪
She had 3km left to knock over, and today she decided it was the day ….. result? Her 60km goal smashed! What an awesome effort, baby girl, super proud of you!
Our usual onlookers (the local kangaroos) were back again, hopping out ahead like they knew the way, little did they realise, that wasn’t the route to the finish line! 😂
Overnight we received another amazing donation and more messages of support, a huge thank you to Shona Thomas, absolute legend! 🙌
With only a few days left in the challenge, we’ll keep charging forward to see just how far (and how much!) we can achieve. Every step, every cheer, every dollar, it’s all making a difference.
Onward, upward, and still being outpaced by kangaroos! 🦘

Four days to go! 🎉🐾

We could’ve been excused for taking a day off to celebrate the one and only Bridie’s 21st — and we did it in style! 🥳

Yes, we had the best intentions of getting a photo in our Black Dog shirts… but as usual, the best-laid plans don’t always pan out. Still, we had an amazing time, shared a few laughs, and chatted about what Team Prendo has achieved so far — and wow, what an incredible bunch of supporters we’ve got behind us. 👏

Bridie and I had a quiet chat about what’s driving her, and it’s clear to see — that mentor who saw your potential, Bridie, lit a fire. Keep marching, kiddo — we’ll see you in the NRLW in no time. The sky’s the limit! 💪🏉

Big shoutout to Mark Hahn — absolute legend, mate! Thanks for the donation and the ongoing support, it means the world. 🙌

Now, without further ado, time to get back at it and smash out the rest of those KMs. Let’s finish strong — onward and upward, Team Prendo! 👣🔥

It’s heating up, isn’t it?!

Not only are we under pressure to hit our target, but spring’s decided to skip straight to summer! We’ve been hitting the pavement at 6am, but it might be time to start earlier… between the highway traffic (yes, still closed 😅) and this heat, it’s like a real-life obstacle course out there.

By the time I get home, I’m about as cooked as my breakfast eggs, but we keep moving!

We added another 3km today, bringing us closer to the finish line

🔥 EXCITING NEWS! 🔥

From our time 9am today only (Thursday 23rd October) all donations to the One Foot Forward fundraising page will be DOUBLED! 🙌

With just over a week left in the challenge, it’s time to dig deep and bring it home strong. Big thanks to Safety Mate, who’s matching all donations (up to $75,000 total) — that’s double the impact for better mental health. 🧡

Get in quick though, last time, the matching funds were gone faster than me spotting shade on a hot morning!

Either way, Team Prendo’s still marching onwards and upwards, sweat, traffic jams, and all. 👣💪

Still walking, still smiling, still wondering why I didn’t take up swimming instead! 😂💦

One Foot Forward – Marching On!

Another 2.3km done this morning! I’ll admit, I was a bit lazy yesterday, no kms clocked, but we’re back at it today and marching on.
The mornings are definitely starting to heat up, might have to swap the walking shoes for some laps in the pool soon 😅.
Aston was keen to go again this morning… but a bit more of a sleep-in won that battle 😂.
We’re continuing to push forward and honestly, I’m blown away by all the support, both through donations and the interaction on these posts. You guys are amazing 🙌
A huge thank you to Dave David Schneider and Kristy Percasky for your generous donations — absolute legends!
Every step counts, every dollar helps, and every bit of support makes the journey that much better... onwards and upwards!

One Foot Forward – Weekly Wrap-Up!

Another solid week done and dusted for Team Prendo in the Black Dog Institute’s One Foot Forward challenge 👣
I’ve now been supported to the tune of $2,185, with overnight donations from Brett Trace and the one and only TV advert superstar Jools Munro, legends, both of you! 🙌
I’ve now knocked over 75% of my target, sitting at 44km out of my 60km goal. Feeling good, a little sore, and still moving! 😅
Team Prendo as a whole has absolutely charged ahead, $3,768 raised and 112km completed! What an effort by Kelsi and Bridie, smashing it out this week 👏
Kelsi also filled me in on some of her support over the last few days, a big shout-out and thank you to Aunty Paulie Therese for jumping on board
Loving the momentum, the laughs, and the amazing support, every step really does make a difference. The photo, this lot… the reason I lace up, show up, and keep going! My motivation, my chaos, my reason, Onwards we go!

You walked How Far....lol!

Another 4.1km done this morning for the Black Dog Institute’s One Foot Forward challenge and judging by Enzo’s face, he’s clearly thinking, “I’m glad I stayed home if you’re walking that far!”
Honestly, if he did come along, it’d be very questionable who’d be walking who!
A big thank you to Kayte Georgete & Aaron George for your generous donation and support, it honestly means a lot.
Team Prendo’s still charging on, one walk, one laugh, and one cheeky dog at a time!

Dad Jokes & Deep Chats Edition!

I’m really loving these morning walks — they’ve become a great chance to have little chats with my girl along the way. This morning she reminded me that this time next year she’ll have a week left of Year 12… 😳 Scary words for any dad to hear — seriously, where does the time go?

Of course, I couldn’t let the moment get too serious. I reminded her that I’m a great dad with top-tier jokes (she’ll hate me for saying that… because apparently, they’re not funny).

Then she says, “Dad, there’s a fly on your shoulder.” Naturally, I swatted it away and said, “Does that make it a walk-fly?” 😎

I got a smile — small victory. She quickly shot back, “No, Dad… just a walk.” Okay kid, you win this round! 😂

Anyway, another 3.1km done and dusted for the Black Dog Institute’s One Foot Forward challenge — loving the chats, the laughs, and the company.

One Foot Forward – Traffic Edition!

One Foot Forward – Traffic Edition!

A bit of a busy walk this morning — the highway’s closed so every car in Bundy seemed to come our way 😂. Still, we managed to clock up 4km, which takes me past the halfway mark toward my 60km goal — now sitting at 35km!

Had my partner in crime by my side as always — she’s smashing it! Told me this morning we’re doing a “big walk” soon… haha okay then, guess I’m in!

We dodged the plovers today but got a great show from the rainbow lorikeets instead — can’t complain about that. 🌈🦜

Oh — and a few One Foot Forward t-shirts arrived in the mail yesterday! The motivation is real now 💪🖤

The support we keep getting is just incredible — I’ve personally raised $1,959, and Team Prendo is charging ahead with $3,497 raised so far, covering 76km and counting!

Thanks again to everyone who’s donated or cheered us on — it really means a lot. One step, one laugh, and one near miss with traffic at a time! 😂

Another Day, Another Walk!

What a ripper Bathurst day yesterday — still buzzing! Even better, I managed to snag first and second in the sweep, so I’m calling that a win for the weekend 😎.

Still, no rest for Team Prendo — we were back at it this morning, knocked out another 2.4km for the Black Dog Institute’s One Foot Forward challenge.

Feeling good, legs working, coffee brewing — not a bad way to kick off a Monday. Hope everyone has a cracking week ahead! Remember, if all else fails… coffee counts as a positive attitude ☕😂

One Foot Forward.... Wildlife Edition!

Just back from my morning 2.4km walk for the Black Dog Institute’s One Foot Forward challenge, and of course, the one day I forget my phone, it turns into a nature documentary!
Greeted by four kangaroos, three of them decided they’d had enough of me and bolted through a fence into a paddock. The big daddy, though, absolute unit, just took a couple of bounds and hopped the fence like it was nothing. Graceful. Effortless. Slightly showing off, I reckon.
Feeling good today, this has got to be the third best day of the year, right behind Christmas and the NRL Grand Final. Bathurst 1000 is on. I did 2.4km today, can you imagine doing 1000km in a day? 😅
A massive thank you to Simone Peacock for supporting Kelsi, your encouragement means a lot to the team!
And to finish off, sharing something that caught my eye this week a reverse poem that’s just brilliantly written and a good reminder of perspective.
Let’s keep putting one foot forward … wildlife, footy, and all!
