This October, I’m walking in solidarity with every Australian who has been impacted by mental illness and suicide. I’m walking for those who are struggling, for those who have found the courage to ask for help, for those we’ve sadly lost, and for the families, friends and communities who carry their memory. Every step is a reminder that no one should have to face their darkest moments alone. You matter. Your story matters. And you are never alone.

Support My Walk for Mental Health Research

Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness each year?

This October, I’m taking part in One Foot Forward to help Australians impacted by mental illness and suicide.

I'm walking to raise funds for Black Dog Institute to put ground-breaking new mental health treatment, education, and digital services into the hands of the people who need them most.

It would mean so much to me if you donated to support my walk.

Together, we can create better mental health for all Australians.

My Updates

Day 3

It’s Day 3, and the support so far has been incredible. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, reached out, donated or simply taken the time to read what this is all about.

Mental health needs to be talked about more. It’s not always visible. Sometimes the signs aren’t obvious, and sometimes what looks like a small comment, a change in behaviour or even an invitation to hang out might actually be someone’s way of reaching out for support. Family and friends can play such an important role. Sometimes you don’t need the perfect words or all the answers, just being there is enough.

Even having that one friend, or that handful of friends you think the absolute world of, can make more of a difference than they may ever realise. Just hanging out, laughing, going for a drive or chatting absolute rubbish about nothing can be exactly what someone needs.

If you are that person for someone, you are special. Never underestimate what your friendship means.

Get out of the house. Meet your mates. Grab a coffee. Go to the pub. Go to a music festival. Laugh until your stomach hurts. Make memories. Feel alive and share those moments with the people you love.

Suffering in silence can be incredibly lonely. Please reach out. Get help. Find your outlet. Talk to someone. Take that first step towards getting back on your feet and enjoying life the best way you can. Life won’t always be perfect, and some days will be harder than others. But you deserve to experience the good days, the laughs, the friendships, the music, the memories and all those little moments that make life worth living.
